‘Aldi is to start its first ever pizza delivery service across three cities on Tuesday October 3rd, serving up its brand-new Ultimate Takeaway range. You can pre-order pizzas £3.99 each now (choice of three 11.5 inch pizzas).’

More details

Great to see given the prices Dominos charge. Early days yet of course but I can see this doing really well.

Will they be their shop pizzas heated up or actual freshly made pizzas do we know?
In any case, even if the former, £4 delivered I'd pay for. If they went national with this, I honestly believe it would wipe out the main Pizza companies over night. Not sustainable at £4 though surely.

supermarket pizzas are yuk I'll pass

So are dominoes and the likes of Papa Johns.

It depends if Aldi are going to make these in the style that ASDA do from their counters, which I agree are pretty awful as their consistency and taste is nothing like a proper pizza.

It's difficult for us now because a proper pizza takeaway has recently opened here, and it's pretty much as good as it gets, but the prices are extortionate.

This is presumably some sort of promo price given the limited order quantities (max 2 pizzas) and the fact you have to order it 2 weeks in advance of delivery (order first come first served between 18th and 22nd September for delivery 3rd October onwards).

Don't think they're quite at the 'phone up and get a pizza delivered 20 minutes later for a fiver' stage just yet!

I will disagree with this. Many supermarket pizzas, both boxed fresh and from the pizza counter if they have one are at least on par or better than Domino’s, Pizza Hut etc.

Agreed. If you buy their "deluxe" range then they are fantastic for the price. Pizzas are one of those ridiculous things that make huge margins - Domino's charge like £18 for a pizza that probably costs them a couple of quid for the base, toppings, and cooking/staffing costs. So quality-wise they're certainly not better.

You'll rarely ever have to pay the full price at dominoes but even with their "offers" it's still very expensive for how shoddy their pizzas are.
Agreed, but wouldn't it be nice to not have to browse and faff with the "deals" and just have permanently decent and simple pricing. Just adds time and complexity to purchases where you already know what you want. Alas, that will never happen.

Dominos can be ok depending on which toppings you go for. I find tuna and sweetcorn a good topping. Costs £9.99 for a two topping large 13.5” Pizza here collection only, and for the first time last nights one was actually hot.

I think someone has had a word.
