AIC touring soon, new album is out in 13 days:

November 12 ‘09 Glasgow, UK Barrowland
November 13 ‘09 Birmingham, UK Academy
November 14 ‘09 Manchester, UK Academy
November 16 ‘09 London, UK The Forum
November 17 ‘09 London, UK The Forum

Pre-sales from their site to Seetickets from today, had to get mine before posting :p.
Album is streaming from their site just now.
 
I hadn't realised they were releasing an album now, I'll give it a listen but I'm not expecting too much without Layne. I just watched the "check my brain" video and they still have the old AiC sound but it just doesn't seem quite right, like a lifeless shadow of the old band :(

Maybe (hopefully) some of the other tracks will be better.
 
Sounds okay to me. Unmistakably AiC. Flawless! Someone check that Layne's actually dead

Actally this ones beginning to sound a bit too much like Velvet Revolver and Soundgarden

I hate it when people can't let go of one member of a band too, have you heard any of the new stuff?
It's awesome and the band are awesome too regardless of some drug addled twit fronting them or not.
 
I'd love to hear more comment as to why the stuff streamed so far is not worthy of an AIC tag. DuVall ain't even trying to fill Staley's place, who could?
 
Having seen them live with this lineup at Sonisphere they are bloody good. It isn't the original lineup but then so? The stuff they did in the early 90s is nearly 20 years ago now, why can't they tour as Alice in Chains, they are the majority of that band. Its not like they are the only people ever to change lead singer/guitarist/drummer/base player/random by stander are they???
 
The Blind Melon album with a new lead singer was seriously dissapointing.

So far, I'm absolutely loving the new AIC stuff! Can't wait for the new album :D

I grew up with them is all, to me AiC IS Staley ....the band died when he did.

Imagine Grohl pulling in some joker and keeping Nirvana going, he did the right thing and started fresh with his own band.....same goes for the abomination that still call themselves G N' R....sometimes you just cannot replace it.

It's not for me but good luck to them i guess.

Difference is that Grohl wasn't a founding member of Nirvana or a major member.

In AiC you have Cantrell... who was always the main force behind the band. Stayley was a great singer, but withough Cantrell, AiC wouldn't exist at all. He's still alive, he's still damn awesome, he's still the lifeforce of AiC.

I agree - Cantrell was both one of the main vocalists for AIC and also the mainstay for the song writing. AIC would not have the signature sound without Jerry.

After hearing 'A Looking in View' I've been pretty impressed, William DuVall does the sound justice - if sounding a little Chris Cornell (and that's not a bad thing) - the sound has more integrity than many other heavy rock/alternative bands out there. I rate it.

I think Jerry has a lot of talent but let's face it his solo stuff wasn't setting the world alight, but thanks for letting me know he is still alive rofl :rolleyes:

You can rate this new AiC as a decent band in it's own right but it's not AiC .....no-one can do AiC ballads justice except for Staley ....end of!!! you can say what you like and have your opinion but i was around and saw them when they WERE AiC ...you kids are watching Youtube.

That's quite a sweeping statement, Barrowlands 93 can post the ticket stub if needed :p.

Incidentally, Cantrell's solo stuff was used for AIC - AIC release, he planned to release that solo but it got brought across as Staley had came out of rehab at that point, source is on wikipedia. So I guess even Staley thought he was setting fires ;).

I agree with that, but without Layne its still only half the band IMO. You cant replace him, only imitate or get a new unique sound.
