Awesome a while back I said this is the game I wanted to see on the next gen consoles. :)

From IGN

SEGA has announced it will be bringing games based on the classic Alien sci-fi movie franchise (including the original Alien, Aliens, Alien: The First Rubbish One and Alien: The Really Rubbish One That Wasn't Even Any Good Drunk) to next-gen consoles, starting 2009.

Teaming up with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising, the worldwide exclusive agreement sees both a first-person shooter and role-playing title currently in the pre-prodcution stages, with more titles presumably to be announced in the future.

According to Simon Jeffery, president and chief operating officer over at SEGA of America, the company "will utilise the power of next-gen systems to blend the time-honoured story with leading edge design technology to deliver a riveting and suspenseful gameplay experience."

For scant information (by which we mean 'none at all') on both games currently in development, you can check out SEGA's official Aliens site, featuring a big egg and a dribbling monster.

Cool, but 2009 is a heck of a long time away. That and would have thought we'd be thinking about next-next-gen by then. If i remember correctly the guys that did FEAR are the same ones that did AvP2, they definitely should do a sequel or the fps that mentions. The rpg could be interesting though if done well. :)

I really hope they can match the terror generated in Aliens versus Predator 2. That is still THE scariest game I have ever played in my entire life.

Going slightly OT, did any of you lot out there get to play that "Alien Wars" experience that was on in London's Leicester Square many moons ago now.

Is there where you run around and they chase you?

I got told about this about 8 years ago, but I didn't believe it. I got told the alien robots pick you up and and stuff. Also that they smash through walls to find you. Were they lying to me?

I don't know but they had a "trailer" for it on an Aliens VHS video I bought. I think I was about 16 at the time and was too frightened to go anyway near the place. I wouldn't have slept for weeks if I came face to face with an alien (even if it was just a man in a suit).
