Good news for all us graphic hungry people and a wise move by DAAMIT. Worth the extre few months wait if you ask me and the original 240/270watt consumption was far to much, what do you guys think of this move?

TheInq - r6xx now 65nm

End of May .. hmmm well as long as Stalker plays OK on an x1950Pro, I can wait ...

Reading that we should have some official announcements March 31st, lets hope so.

Seems i was right about that TweakTowns article being old news about R600 being 30th March then, as it was well after that that AMD came out and said were now changing strategy and delaying R600 till Q2, so they are way behind the times, its still May, they'll probably run the delayed Article in April sometime. :D

Wow didnt expect that tbh most likely be definetly be getting one. Most likely use a lot less power than the G80 now :D

i cant find the link but they say it will have 1/3 of the power for all cards
so if it was gona run at 270w it should be around 180w

Be funny that, all this time Nvidia thinking were well ahead here, then all of a sudden BOOM ATi drops da bomb and hits em with another 9700pro. :D

Link: R600 is 80 nanometre

CEBIT 2007: Various sources confirms

We spoke with dozen of contacts and we can now confirm that R600 is a 80 nanometre chip. It is not 60 nanometre and it won't be 65 nanometre as going from 80 nanometre to 65 requires complete redesign of chip.

ATI doesn't have the time for it and we don't believe that AMD / ATI could get away deceiving dozens of its partners and OEM's with news that R600 is 80 nanometre, until it suits them.

R600 was and is 80 nanometre and when it launches it will be 80 nanometre. Remember G80, Geforce 8800 series is 90 nanometre and it still runs great. So if you do you homework well even the big chip works well.

Sorry to disappoint you but R600 will be re branded and probably cheaper than everyone expects but its very unlikely that we are waiting for G80 killer.

Is there a quick explanation of the various pros and cons of different chip sizes (nm).Never really fully understood it. Cheers.

Rule of thumb; smaller = quicker, faster, cooler, cheaper.

I.e. better :)

Ace. :D

R600 benched, only 200 points more than GTX, it gets better. :D .
I bet the ati fan will be 200 times faster and louder then the 8800gtx fan..if ATI x1900 range is anything to go by...
