My dear old father has got to that age when he desires something red and italian, so he has recently sold his hornet and is picking up a duke 996 very soon.

Now for the problem.....he's not normally the sort to modify anything...but the new bike has termignonis already fitted (supplied with standards too) and he heard the sound and wants to keep them on.

In your experiences how much will these add to the insurance premium?

Thanks in advance

They should not add that much to the premium.

I called my insurance company and told them I had a Blue flame can fitted to my RSV1000 and they charged me an additional £30 on top of it.

To be honest, it really depends on what insurance company you are with.

Mate of mine has a Colin Edwards replica Mille, with a WSB 2 into 2 Akrapovic set up on it. This came as standard with the bike from the factory, along with the standard road exhaust system.

Despite being a full race system, when he called his insurance mob, they didnt charge him anything extra at all!!!.

Keep the Termi's on it........they really belong on a Duke and sound superb!!.

Termis belong on a Ducati, they are a very common mod and shouldn't effect the premium too much, especially if your father is "experienced" in life. :p

Bennetts were awful when I tried to replace my cans, and refused point blank. Others have been far better, including not increasing the premium at all.

Cheers guys.

He is getting quotes of around £290 so plus a bit for the cans. He's got an old trials bike to sell, so that should cover it :)

I think I'm more excited than him! wish I could ride :(

I have termi's fitted as standard on my 999R , tell your Dad to leave them alone ;) When he twists the throttle he'll understand why :D
