Hello, I was wondering whether I could get some recommendations on a monitor for my new build. I did try visiting my local stores, but all of their monitors are very basic. Here are my requirements:

  • Budget: £250 but happy to go above this for future-proofing purposes (I have the funds at the moment)
  • Prospective Resolution: 2560 x 1440, but probably happy with 1920 x 1080
  • Size: at least 24"
  • Aspect Ratio: Not Sure
  • Adaptive Sync: Not bothered, but my graphics card is and will be NVIDIA
  • Other features: Flicker free technology or equivalent (I have a minor eye condition and this helps my eyes getting aggravated); Adjustable stand
  • Usage Type: The monitor will be used for gaming, but also some productivity (InDesign and Photoshop for work) and watching films. So all-round use. I don't require any advanced gaming features. I mostly play RPG's and some action games like the latest Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. I don’t play a lot of shooters. My current graphics card is a Geforce GTX 970, but I'm looking to upgrade to a 1070 or 1080.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations. I made the mistake of buying a "cheap" monitor before and it hasn't held up well.

If your design work is serious, then consider one of Dell's professional monitors, e.g https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell...200-ips-widescreen-led-monitor-mo-08i-de.html Dell typically have high colour accuracy and factory calibration to save you some effort, and I'm pretty sure they don't use PWM.

You could also look at HP's 32" Omen screen. Not quite as colour accurate as Dell, but I'm loving it for gaming immersion, and it should be below £350 :) Discussion here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...t-in-the-quality-control-dark.18748010/page-5

I was going to suggest one of the 25" IPS 2560x1440 monitors that most of the manufacturers are making now as a good middle ground but saw this when searching.

27" 1440p IPS and cheaper than the 25" models

I don't think you will notice any ghosting or anything like that in gaming you do with a screen with that response time. I play shooters on a 4ms monitor and have no problems
