M3 (again), around Junct 5, a large lorry in the middle lane (overtaking another lorry going up hill  and which I was coming up behind) flicked up a large plank, which went horizontal in the air and ended up heading for my windscreen. Somehow, I managed to check that it was ok for me to move into the inside lane (the outside lane was a bit busy) and dived across. As I did so, the plank contiued to fly horizontally past my drivers window then fell harmlessly to the road.

That could have easily been through my windscreen.....meh!

I'm going to say it cause I know everyone is thinking it. That was a really near miss and damn unfortunate........

Could have been another rover off the road tbh :D

Last time I soiled myself whilst driving was during an OcUK meet, full on the brakes from well into 3 figures.

Less said about that the better.

When I had a passenger window explode on the M40 that was a bit hairy.

I was with my dad on the M1 once though, and a caravan jumped the central reservation. That was a bit close for comfort, I think it managed to reach the hard shoulder without hittng anybody though

Red 4x4 topped over on the motorway and everyone stopped like dead to look?

Funnily enough, me too. I almost ended up becoming part of a Ford Transit. And a green one at that :(

Final destination style  I am always wary behind lorries with dodgy looking loads thanks to stories like these.

Was driving to work the other day and a bucket fell off the back of a lorry jsut ahead of me, luckily I was far enough back to move lanes in time. Was just after a corner though so no doubt some unlucky person will be needing a new front bumper becasue of it.

Would imagine it put the jeepers up you, all you can say is good job you were concentrating enough. :)

I've had a similar close call before, but it was only an A2 sized bit of paper/card. Missed me and landed on the windscreen of the car behind :o

Had the same but I couldn't see it until the car infront had weaved into the other lane to avoid it. On coming traffic meant I didn't get that opportunity. Managed to scrub off a bit of speed as I smacked it, left yellow stripes down the corner of the front bumper but luckily they polished out :)

Actually Ive just remembered another one, which funnily enough was including quite a hefty bit of wood that was on the road. Was doing around 60-70 heading towards the A1 and a car in front of me swerved out of the way, and I went over it at full pelt with the near side front type giving an almightly thud.

Pulled over striaght away fearing the worst, and to my suprise there was nothing wrong with it. Not even a slow puncture.
