Man of Honour
So, to cut a long story short - I was stood by the compactor at work today, its got a platform surrounded by metal mesh, leading to the bin gates with control panels on either side with a work colleage having a chat while emptying the bins.
It started hammering down, and we heard thunder - so we decided to get in before we got soaked, at this point the compactor sheilds and mesh are dripping wet and im lowing the last bin with my hand on the panel to control the lift.
Literally as we both look up at the sky, just as i take my hand off the panel, a fegging huge bolt of lighing strikes the side of the metal clad store (its like a warehouse), chasing down and arcing across the mesh, gates, and control panels of the compactor area. It took out all the fuses for the compactor and melted the handle of the bin lift leaver i had just taken my hand off.
Ive never had such a close experience, just though i would share
(I would have though what is esentially a metal cage with doors would have acted as a faraday cage ?!?!)
