Howdy folks,

I'm currently in the market for a new 24" monitor. As I'm a MBP owner, I was looking at the 24" ACD. However, this is vastly overpriced, especially compared to the other monitor I like, the Samsung SM2443BW.

What would the quality between these two be like in real-life usage terms, assuming I'm never looking at it anymore than 45 degrees from head on (Obviously one is a TN panel and the other is a PVA type, but I'm curious as to actual difference).

If it's vast, can anyone recommend another monitor which may be as good as an ACD? Must have a thin bezel, and not be Dell (I know they make good monitors, but I have my reasons...). Not too bothered about inputs other than it must have at least one DVI (But preferably two).

Cheers! :D

There is a pretty vast difference between TN and PVA or IPS panels. Compared to the TNs, the IPS and PVA have much wider viewing angles, better colour reproduction, better blacks and generally better image quality.

As an alternative to the ACD, this monitor is fantastic. It uses an H-IPS panel and is fantastic for pretty much everything.

Yeah, you basically want to pick either the HP LP2475w or the Dell U2410 - they both have decent panels and relatively low input lag. I opted for the Dell because of the gamer mode, which reduces input lag considerably (at the expense of colour accuracy). Certainly it's worth sticking clear of Apple displays, as they are simply too expensive for what they are.

Hazro are launching a LED backlight monitor soon which apparently uses the same LM240WU6 LED panel as the ACD. The hazro has HDMI and optical out and the same Aluminium casing we saw last time. dont know how much of it is true and if where actually going to see it as they dont bother with consumers - its strictly b2b with hazro. i picked this up from a chap who'd bought 4 hazros screens and he apparently spoken to them direct.
