hey folks, hows it goin? need a lil advice on the purchase of a new board. im currently running a crosshair am2 boards, 6400+ BE processor, 2gb ocz sli ram , 8800gt
im currently having problems gettin two ram sticks to run in this system, and its currently running with 1gb.
i was gona build a new system for my dad with the 4600+ processor, and 2gb corsair ram i have left over. *** i be better buying a cheap 40 quid am2 board, or purchasing a new 790(f)x board for my system, and using my old crosshair board in his?
anyone know if the 790 is compatible with my BE processor ok? any advice *** be greatly apreciated!

I'm running the MSI K9A2 Plat 790FX with my 5000+ BE and it works a treat, overclocks well and keeps nice a cool. :D

i duno if id go for the fx, im not lookin to spend over 80 quid, as the original build cost me a fortune..

any idea how the 790 f boards perform, and how they support the 6400 be?

ive read they have msot of the features expect for quad crossfire, and lackin two sta ports which i wont be using anyway
anyone got any first hand expierience?

Same performance, same cpu support, you simply lose Cross Fire X support (4 PCIe cards), and as you say some features will be reduced compared to the flagship boards.

i noticed withthe msi 790x board, it doesnt support 125w (ie my 6400 BE) processors, as the boarda have been known to start smoking!!

anyone know if this is true for the gigabyte 790 x board too??
