Wouldn't that just add to the pressure/pump force needed to get the water to your house in the first place? Energy has to come from somewhere!

And 2bit: You'll save more money but not wasting water than you will by saving electricity like that

great idea for us that dont have water meters though

Actually, you mentioning that reminded me. I did design a heat pump based on a fridge mechanism running 'backwards' to move heat from outside to inside. I wanted to do it as my major project in my degree but I was told it would never work. A couple of years later they are now an eco-heating product of choice
