I have the latest version of the Amazon Fire 8 tablet and have some ebooks I want to read on it. All of the ebooks are in mobi format, and they were bought from Humble Bundle so don't have any DRM. I've copied all of the ebooks to an SD card and put it in my Amazon Fire 8 tablet, but I'm unable to read any of the books on the tablet.

Does anyone know how you are supposed to read them? Or do you need to put them in a particular folder on the SD card?

Any help is appreciated :).

OK. I managed to get it sorted. I had to buy an app on the app store called Aldiko Book Reader Premium and then download all of my ebooks from Humble Bundle in EPub format and put them on my SD card and I can now read them without needing to put them on the internal storage of the Fire HD. I find it strange that the Amazon Fire didn't see the mobi files on the SD card or the internal storage though. I guess I'll have to remember to download as EPub in the future.

Sorry to bump this thread again but after some use Aldiko Book Reader Premium is crashing on some epub format ebooks which don't have DRM on them. Does anyone know of another epub ebook reader for Amazon Fire tablets at all?

I just installed the Google services and use Google books.

I'm not a Kindle user and have an ereader that reads epub's natively, but you could try a couple of good free options to boost your compatibility -

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, none of those are available on the Amazon Fire app store.

Hmm. I guess I could do that although I'd rather avoid it as I got this simply to read ebooks. I guess the worst case scenario is I redownload all of my ebooks in PDF format and use Adobe Acrobat Reader instead. I just wanted the ebook features that .mobi or .epub offers.
