When I try to play some video on Amazon Prime Video, I got this HDCP error message. Basically it says I dont meet the HDCP requirement so I can only play in standard definition.

I have actiavted the HDCP function in AMD Radeon software and just bought a new Displayport1.4 VESA Certified + HDCP cable and still not work.

Anyone knows how to fix it?
Thanks!!!

What browser are you using? Have you tried a different one?

Are you using any software that messes with Windows services and browser configuration/privacy settings?

AOC AG322QC4 does not have HDCP? https://kagoo.co.uk/pc-monitors/compare/acer-predator-xb252q-vs-aoc-ag322qc4 States no HDCP. Cant get a hit for HDCP in the manual.

With NVidia Control Panel its so simple. Just View HDCP status and it will tell you if the gpu and monitor support HDCP.

Sometime HDCP is disabled. It can cause issues for some people. This video will help. 4:23 is the useful part to you and shows the override in the driver were you can force HDCP on or off.

I'm not familiar with the AMD drivers and software, but the Nvidia control panel contains a section for HDCP status which will tell you the various status of the card/cable/display. Check the AMD control panel to see if there's something similar first.

HDCP status may depend on not just the card/monitor but specific connectivity between the 2, i.e what cable/ports you're using. That would be my first guess.

If you are using Firefox some recent updates seem to break DRM a bit - you may need to clear all cookies for Amazon and disable DRM in the browser then close and reopen the browser and re-enable DRM again in the Firefox options (then close and reopen the browser again for good measure) before it will play again.

Basically any program that can read your monitors EDID will tell you if it supports HDCP. Windows basically reads the monitors EDID and stores it in the registry. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/display/overriding-monitor-edids This is how the software programs find out if your monitor can support HDCP. You can also get windows to override the monitor EDID using an inf file. There are also software programs that can read the EDID and change the EEPROM. Not recommended but you can view the EDID and that is safe https://www.extron.com/product/software/edidmanager21

If you dont mind copying the registry data to a website, this website can tell you what your monitors edid contains. http://www.edidreader.com/

I dont know why they are forcing HDCP on customers, you can buy a HDCP stripper for $13. Most HDMI mini splitters have DHCP strippers builtin. I have never used one, but the splitter supports the latest HDCP. Its EDID is read by windows, then as the HDCP signal hits the splitter. Its removed so that the none HDCP complient monitor can then display the signal. You can buy them everywhere online. I dont know why they force customers to use HDCP when its so completely broken. You can get HDCP strippers which do contain the HDCP master key. I dont know how legal that is btw.
