The new 965 supports ddr3, 1333htz ram.

I can easily overclock the ram on my mo bo to 1600, the ram will take it, the board will take it, it shows a very nice latency change but might this damage the processor over time?

It will run just fine.
The thing is with Phenoms though is they benefit more from tighter timings than more bandwidth.

For example 1333 at 7-7-7-24 is a nicer gain on the Phenom rather than 1600@9-9-9 timings

I am using OCZ obsidian 1600mhz kit and i got my timings at 7-7-7-24 and there rock solid.

Mine seems to default to this...if this is easily answered then please just correct my noobness or forward me to somewhere I can easily do it, but what are memory timings, and are we talking the equivalent of cpu multiplier v fsb? (i.e. one affects the other)

I could just about wrap my head around normal ram, but ddr3 seems more complex and I do not want to go messing anything up...the ram is however an overkill, 2000mhz ripjaw.

Also will this induce heat changes or lower processor life?

Your advice is much appreciated guys, thanks.
