AMD announce TressFX for Monster Hunter online

Get an amd card ;)

Why should i? I have had them in the past and only ever had issues after issue sadly. Including AMD cpus.

That aside. Both companies need to stop with the low ball tactics crippling each others performance in titles by implementing there own software into the game. It's sad. Nvidia did the same on witcher 3 with hair works.

AMD API's are open and NVIDIA is welcome to utilize TRESS FX if they choose.
Nvidia are the ones with the underhand tactics. Their API's are proprietry.
Only Nvidia damages this industry.

We purposely disabled TressFX on NVIDIA cards. We delivered TressFX on AMD hardware as part of our partnership with AMD.

Yeah okay then mate.

Oh look somebody else

Cannot Enable TressFX on Nvidia Card Despite the Feature Being Vendor Agnostic

Annoying things aide though i did just find this piece of art

We did an AMD/Nvidia TressFX performance hit comparison bench thread a while back (can't find the thread), and IIRC, the performance hit was pretty much the same on both.

TressFX runs sweet as for me and although it does hit performance, you can turn it off, so no loss other than some nice hair effects.

I think it was actually fractionally lower on the Nvidia cards. Not so much it would make any difference really, but I think it was a little less.

Pity we never got a similar thread to see if HairWorks was as uneven as some say/think it is (which it may be for all I know).

They all have a performance hit, the debate that I hate about some of Gameworks effects os the fact the hurt performance for little to no effect over what we already have in games.
Rain on batman and light shafts was pointless.
Look at fallout 4 lens effect hard to see any difference but performance was.

Am all for these extra effects in games so long has 1. Everyone can use them and 2. They is a noticeable difference.

Like I said, pretty much the same :D It was a couple of percent or something, but it did show that it was actually a little better on Nvidia, despite Harry's odd claims.

Could always start a similar thread for hairworks if you can be bothered to maintain it :)

why would we get rubbish? (and by rubbish I mean their drivers and the interface)

That's a massive exaggeration...
