Well if the above is true (ie. who the hell knows when they're coming), I guess I'll be going the Intel route come September 24th.... a shame AMD, I was all ready to give you another chance after being an Intellian for the past 6 years. Also a shame I'll be missing out on the ASUS Crosshair V Formula board... that thing looked immense. The corresponding board (with similar features) on the Intel side is like £70-90 more.

It's just an announcement.
I don't think it's BD. Not in the slightest.
I think BD's going to come out late September/Early October.

A "historic" announcement? Can't quite imagine what that would be lol. If it's just the launch of a new product or two, they may be over selling it a little

Roughly they should be around the price of sandy bridge chips with the highest end chip priced similarly to a 2600k. However its not confirmed.

Mine will be here in the morning, One of the reasons AMD pipped it for me, Everything is just cheaper! with only a slight performance loss i wont really notice in game. :-)

Any links? There's a lot of information being mentioned in the past few posts that arent anywhere in this thread yet. Just a little confused why no sources have been posted if there's information like this available.

Unless its speculation from posters elsewhere, in which point. It may aswell be ignored.

Ahhh AMD Fusion.... bet this has nothing to do with Bulldozer at all... this will be related to their combined CPU/GPU chips I bet.

Pity I don't live in the states, might've been fun to go to that thing seeing as it's free, and the password to the registration site was just given away

However, the company, as reported last week, delayed the launch of the new chips, which are based on highly-anticipated Bulldozer micro-architecture, to October, 2011.In a bid to improve competitive positions of its FX-series "Zambezi" lineup due to become available in the fourth quarter of this year, AMD decided to broaden it to seven models: four eight-core FX-8100 versions, one FX-6100 flavour and two FX-4100 central processing units, according to a source close to the company, which asked to remain anonymous. The increased amount of SKUs [stock keeping units] will help AMD to better position its models and make them appealing to particular customers with unique needs.

In addition to the model FX-8120 (which will be available in 95W and 125W flavours), which fills the gap between the FX-8100 and FX-8150 and allows AMD to broader the lineup of expensive eight core-chips, AMD also plans to introduce high-speed quad-core FX-4170, which will have default clock-speed of 4.20GHz and will thus offer extreme performance for its price-point.

For something to be delayed, it has to have an announced release date to begin with. There was never an announced release date, therefore nothing has been delayed

Depends how look at it,nobody will argue even AMD themselves that BD is well overdue and behind schedule,anyway we now have a clearer picture I hope

Yes, it's now "maybe sometime in October" rather than "maybe sometime in late September"... clear as mud

Makes no odds anyway, I have a firm date for my PC upgrade. If the Octo-Core FX processors are out by the end of September, I'll buy one. If not, then it's bye bye AMD, and hello again to Intel.
