Summat about a UEFI update for Ivy.
I've written programs for distributed computing at University. The performance is veeeeeeeeeeeeery nice indeed. Wrote a distributed web and file server.
Stop spreading FUD. They're not the same architecture.
I don't understand the defending of AMD.
Yes, we need AMD, but we need them to compete, not for them to release lacklustre products. We need them to actually compete with Intel in all cases, not just a few small scenarios because they've got the core count advantage.
@ Wannabedammed, did you see the link to the conference I posted?
EDIT : I tried googling for "P67 not supporting IvyBridge", it just brings up news of P67 supporting Ivybridge. Lame.
I think most of us like to defend the underdog, end of the day without AMD , Intel could do anything with pricing etc...scary thought .

Seems legit. If the issue does indeed relate to ALL currents "Ivy Bridge Compatible" 1155 mobos, then that's a gigantic own-goal (again, after the initial 1155 recall). Who's going to want to RMA their board for a CPU upgrade?
Also, the article states that currently only the factories are able to completely wipe and flash the new BIOS, service centres don't yet have such a facility.
Like I said, we need them, but we need them to be competitive.
At this point, can you imagine how embarrassing it would be if Intel managed to get SB-E out before AMD can get BD out, and it can't compete? At least if AMD get BD out and it's an SB killer, SB-E beating it won't matter, as it'll cost a lot more.
Don't forget, SB is a mainstream platform, and it's over 6 months old now. Ideally AMD, for the enthusiast of us, want an SB killer.
well as i said before im not bothered if BD beats intel or not. has long as it performances faster than my 1090t, i'll be happy.
Having read the article.
It sounds like an issue, but one that can be resolved with RMA'ing for the upgrade.
It's more an inconvenience than anything.
If they can't resolve it, I'd call weeks / months without your motherboard and a recall costing billions a bit more than an inconvenience. This would be much worse than the initial 1155 recall, as it would effect far more boards.
My opinion is amd win's on value/price + more features on they boardsBut we need it to beat Intel, or we'll always have to let Intel have the performance premium.
If AMD can compete on a performance level, prices would be better etc, progression would be more fierce.
My opinion of course.

Board wise, they do hands down.My opinion is amd win's on price + more features on they boards
What worries me with BD, from a competitiveness point of view, is the fact that AMD are going down the high clock frequency route for each market segment entry point, again.Let's hope it is not a negative in the end.
