AMD Catalyst 11.1 (Official WHQL) Download & Discussion

Ever since the 10.12s ive had a problem...

alt tabbing, loading up a game with a different resolution etc all stall my PC for about 60seconds. Sound loops etc until it's finished whatever the hell it's doing. It stopped for a bit and then i stupidly updated to the 11.1s and it's come back >_< any ideas what could be causing this?

Its a driver problem & you cant fix it.

If you want to minimise the potential for problems, uninstall all ATI drivers and ccc before installing new ones.

If you have overclocks on, then you MAY have to revert to stock, then install new drivers, then overclock, however I have never overclocked a gpu before, so im not sure how important this is.

Its just to minimise issues.

My gpu is not overclocked and I was trying to uninstall the drivers when I got this error. I have now done a system restore but I still can't uninstall the old drivers or install the new ones. The only options I get in add/remove programs is change/repair and opting for any of these gets me a 1327 error message. Might have to do a clean win 7 install, it's been a couple of months since my last one so might be a good time to clear all the crap ouot.

Have you tried Driver Sweeper?...http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ .

I uninstalled 10.11s via Control Panel ,rebooted and installed 11.1s with no issues.
guru3d.com has an old version of Driversweeper 2.6.0 that will stop Windows Service Pack 1 (beta or official when released) from being installed, due to ati system files being deleted by Driversweeper.

You need to download 2.8.5 from the developers website. http://phyxion.net/Downloads/ which does not have this problem.

If you haven't already done so, please read this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18233804 as it explains in detail about the issue and also tells you how to fix the problem.

I had a similar issue when trying to do a clean install. I ended up having to remove the drivers by first uninstalling them in device manager. (so the screen resolution went to 640x480 (I think)) and then running the uninstall option of the 11.1 drivers.

I've been using this in a few different benchmarks and games with my crossfire 5830 setup, and it's been working flawlessly. This is the first AMD driver I've ever had that has no issues whatsoever since I got my first 5830. Faultless. :D

And the cherry on the top of the cake, they perform better than any I've had since 10.5a, maybe longer but I have nothing to compare it to.

Was getting some driver crashes on a mobility modded set of 11.1a, whereas mobility 10.12 and 11.1 work fine.

Keepers for me so far, if 11.2 has performance improvements and more testing of what was in 11.1a to stop the crashes, then all good.
As it stands though, no issues, and I'm using a laptop with crossfire...so I'm REALLY into niche territory where I'd expect issues now and then.

Found a temporary workaround: turned off aero effects.

That does not fix it, it just makes it take less time to switch than it should do with aero effects on as its related to the a GPU at 100% load bug & i still get kicked out of online games when the bug is active & i Alt tabbed.

Besides that bug & the multi screen overdrive bug these 11.1a drivers have given me the best Quadfire performance to date>
Maxed Out in-game settings & HBAO BFBC2 2560x1600 all 8xAA 16xAF 60fps Vsync & smooth as butter & it never dips at all no matter how much smoke & explosions & all 4 GPU cores run at 20%-30% load, so that's only 30% total GPU power used.

Hi all

I just got a 3 monitor setup using windows 7 64bit and have a small problem, I have an ATI HD sapphire 5770 GFX card installed and using drivers 12.1. I have 2 monitors using dvi and 1 monitor+sapphire active dvi to displayport adaptor using a displayport, My desktop is not set to eyefinity but as 3 monitors using an extension to the desktop and have the centre monitor as the primary.

The problem is when playing videos on my desktop or any youtube videos using IE, the monitors that use DVI conections both flicker or tear the screen for a split second when loading a video up or closing it down using windows media player and the same goes for youtube in IE for a short burst but the monitor connected using the displayport does not have this effect at all its 100% fine only the 2 monitors connected using the DVI has this problem.

Now for the strange part If i open a video using windows media player it flickers or tears the desktop as it normaly does but if i leave it open on any monitor and pause the video and then open ie and go to youtube it does not flicker or tear the same if i open a 2nd video using windows media player and play the video. so it stops this problem if you have 2 videos up on the desktop but if you only have one it happens. I have also tried VLC player and XBMC and it does not do it at all even with 1 video loaded up.

i can not understand why this is happaning do you think its a driver problem i am on 12.1

has anyone herd or know what this problem is.

thanks
