The thing is that I cannot find a single laptop with 4K screen, based on an AMD product, either Ryzen, earlier APUs, or Radeon.
Why isn't there any availability of AMD 4K laptops?

*** I am able to find a Hewlett-Packard HP ZBook 15u G3 (T7W16EA) with AMD FirePro W4190M.
This is the only offer from May 2017.

Acer Helios feat. Ryzen 2700, Vega 56 and 4K screen @ Computex

http://www.newslaym.gq/2018/06/laptops-acer-announces-amd-gaming.html?postuu&m=1

Ok, thanks. I missed the notification for this. Great news!

I would like to answer this talk in this thread:

Ryzen 7 2700 at its 65W at 4.1GHz is good enough to make it a decent 25-35-45W notebook chip.
When will they release laptops with Ryzen? It's been more than a year and still nothng.

What, other than the Acer Swift 3, ASUS Strix GL702ZC, Lenovo Ideapad 720S, Lenovo Thinkpad E485, Huawei Matebook D, Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 and Dell Inspiron 15 5000?

And that's a 3 second Google search.

This is a fake search.
I am looking in the shops/stores and there are exactly 0 4K notebooks with any AMD chips whatsoever available.

edit: I found yours but they are all with Ryzen 3 2200 and full HD or lower screens. So, meh.

There's still a lack of quality AMD laptop offerings, and absolutely nil tablets?

You didn't say anything about a 4K screen :p and pretty much all of those I listed have configuration options all the way to a Ryzen 7.

You asked the question where are the Ryzen notebooks, you were shown. You then proceed to move the goal posts after being shown some.

Are people supposed to read your mind? :/

EDIT: OH yeah.. here's one with a 4K display, options for up to Ryzen 7, 1TB NVMe SSD, and Vega10 GPU.

https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-envy-x360-13z-touch-laptop-3ec92av-1

Yawn.

Yes, this is the first one and I don't see it available in Germany yet. So, things have changed in the last month or two with the second-generation Ryzen being released.
I am using a filter with 4K and 17 inch and once only Intel-based configurations appear, I don't go deeper to see what other systems are available with these Ryzens.

So now you've yet again added to the question, in Germany, and with a 17" display?

Your original question should have read as follows:

"Where are the Ryzen based laptops, with up to a Ryzen 7, with a 17" 4k display and available in Germany now?"

Anything more specific, like it needs to be purple, and available in a certain town in Germany, at a specific shop that opens only on Wednesdays, and the staff are all women? Oh yeah, and it plays the orignal Star Trek theme as its BIOS beep.

I stand corrected. There are indeed some new notebooks with Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 both first and second generations available.

For now, they are just two:

HP ENVY x360-13z
Acer Predator Helios 500 (PH517-61)

And there are several models with Intel/nVidia: Acer Aspire VN7, Asus ROG, Asus ZenBook Flip 15, Dell Precision, HP ZBook Studio G3, HP Spectre, HP Omen, Lenovo ThinkPad, Lenovo Yoga, MSI GS60 Ghost Pro...

It is interesting that there is more choice with Apple Retina than PC notebook 4K.
And Google Android smartphones which push for crazy high pixel-per-inch of 800 and more.

Why are you looking for a specifically AMD based product?

it's largely a follow-on from a Ryzen discussion on the CPU board. Essentially, after extolling the virtues and magnificence of Ryzen in the desktop space, it beggars belief that choices for Ryzen mobile are so scarce at the upper-top end of the spectrum. That is starting to change now.

Because I am looking for quality. I don't associate Intel processors, Intel graphics nor nVidia graphics with quality. I associate them with lies and deceit (look for Optane "memory" case to see what all-time-low Intel is currently at).

And because Ryzen is faster, cheaper and less power hungry than Intel processors.
And because with AMD Vega I might get 10-bit colour output to my screens.

I actually lol'ed at this.

You could just say you prefer AMD. ;)

Thanks.
I will stay away from the products and support which don't suit me :D

If you find anything suitable for gaming (with at least a firestrike score of 16K), please share it here. I'd be interested in an AMD machine if it was mobile and capable.

Thanks.

4K, notebook and gaming are mutually cancelling terms. I have never even thought about getting a new laptop with the intention to play demanding 3D titles on it.
I am actually not so sure if I still wanna a seventeen-inch one or will settle for a smaller thirteen or fifteen-inch one.
15W APU will do me perfect and some upgrade and maintenance capabilities would be good, too.

Have just watched removing the undersides of Lenovo Yoga, Acer Aspire, HP Spectre, Asus ROG - they all are with awful designs which stop you from upgrading - some are with soldered RAM, others need full disassembly in order to reach the RAM modules on the back side of their stupid boards - it is disgusting.

And I am starting to think IF it is worth it at all to buy a laptop and bother with it.

Still not a single 4K laptop with an AMD Ryzen processor?

The cheapest 15" 4K goes with Core i5-1035G1 for around 600 (Asus ExpertBook P1510);
The cheapest 17" 4|K goes with Core i7-1165G7 for over 1500 (HP Envy).

Radeon graphics also present in numbers which are less than the fingers of one hand.

AMD continues to be absent from the 4K notebook market.
There are hundreds of Intel/Nvidia powered notebooks, while AMD doesn't offer anything, except maybe one or two.

WTH is so wrong with AMD?

4K on a laptop is niche and not everyone needs it - I personally can't understand what value a 4K panel adds on a laptop, it is so hard to read it on a 15.6" or even 17.3" panel!

There is Scaling settings - you have to use it.
4K on a laptop screen gives much clearer and sharper, higher quality pictures!

It is not a niche. Intel offers many, many notebooks with 4K screens!

The problem is with AMD! WTH is so wrong with AMD? :(
