I may not have been paying attention if it was on a week only offer but up until yesterday this was sitting at £149.99 and now today its at £154.99.

Is there any reason for this specifically ?

Seems un-expected to raise price considering i5's have just been released.

No what they did, was to increase the price by £5 so that they could then offer it as a 'This Week Only' at £148.

I guess a 'This Week Only' saving of £7 looks more impressive than a saving of £2.

Cheers,

Nigel
Ah when i looked at it they hadn't changed it to the 'This week only" offer.

Could be a ploy to make P2 look too expensive and tempt people into an i5 upgrade which would possibly get them to spend more overall (new mobo, cpu and possibly RAM).

nobody is buying the 965, so they've upped the price of the 955... no point buying either, because by next may/june this new AMD 6 core is due out...so i'll wait till then before deciding.

my new pc wont be finished until then anyway...so who cares!

well my local retail outlet which i normally never buy them from has them for quite a bit cheaper so i guess thats my next stop :D

and whoever banned me for not posting a picture in random picture thread lost a 5 grand order to ocuk (lastweek)

welldone :p

Well here is an extract fron Anandtech I5 review. This is about the 965 saying its now $49 dearer than the I5 which is 6% faster in the SYSMark 2007 tests. but it should translate to the 955 as well. Its on page 10 of the review

Guess what else doesn't make sense anymore? AMD's pricing on the Phenom II X4 965 BE. The 965 BE is priced at $245 while the i5 750 is a $196 processor. The 750 is about 6% faster here. AMD will need to adjust its prices downward after this.

So i would imagine that we will see some changes to the prices over the next few weeks. As stated its available cheaper on quite a few places .
