**AMD Radeon 390X Graphics Card WCE**

I plan on buying a 390X Kaap, infact i plan on buying 2, and a Freesync screen this year, but the order of upgrade will be 390X + Freesync screen, then upgrade mobo / ram and CPU to X99 platform to add a 2nd 390X.

Then kick back and enjoy for a year or two :)

Can't fault you for that and enjoy. :)

i dont have a problem with the titan price
its the fastest, its expected
whats most offputting to me is that its using memory neither company will be using in their flagship 6months from now!?
so i worry on its lifespan a little

and the big changes, not so dissimilar to amd that nvidia talk about with pascal
feels very much last of this tech

have you read the reviews !! because the Titan X runs hotter in extreme 4K than the 290X  and by quite a long way

plus the new 390X is water cooled

its why partners to nvidia are coming with titan x watercooled due to the heat of the card. amd at least understood that heat is best combated with watercooling.

X=Extra Hot edition
No saving the planet here.

8GB requires different chip than 4GB. Expensive to make a different chip for every model with different VRAM.

390X 8GB HBM WCE
390X 4GB HBM air
390P 4GB HBM
380X 4GB HBM using same chip as 390X 4GB

two levels of salvage

380X will be the new 290, a powerpack for less than 299

Having just been reading the thread about the titan X, all AMD have to do is be faster than the 980 and cheaper than the titan and they'll sell in spades. Obviously it'll depend on how much cheaper than the titan X, and how much faster than the 980, but you get me drift. All this makes me wonder why AMD have been so quiet, its either they're in dead lumber and have nothing approaching the TX performance, its gonna be too expensive when compared to the TX, or they're gonna drop a bombshell and completely ruin Nvidia's party. The silence from AMD is deafening.:)

Maybe they don't want to give too much away to Nvidia? Who knows how these companies work.

If they've not got anything to launch for a few months, the only reason to put benchmarks out would be to try and stop some enthusiasts buying the TitanX.

Are you serious, you do know what a reference 290X runs at don't you.:D

Is it

No one knows for sure whether it is Water/LN2/Phase change/Air cooled or anything else for that matter.:D

no not reference, stop being silly, because nobody is going to buy a ref 290X when all the after-market versions are so cheap

yes i think you'll find it is Hydra

Thats whats got me thinking, if they don't have anything to counter the TX at the moment, they're probably working frantically to get a bit more performance out of it and trying to gauge the price they'll charge. I really hope the 390X is as good as people here are expecting it to be as I want my next gpu to be an AMD jobbie, buts its gotta perform better than a 980 and be cheaper than a TX for me to be realistically interested.

If AMD had any sense, and if the 390X was any good, they'd paper launch with reviews.

And that is what has got me concerned, no news is not necessarily good news. I'd have thought AMD would want to people to hang out for their gpu and not go out and buy the TX. That only applies to people who don't have any brand loyalty and don't care what they have in their cases. Myself, I usally buy AMD 'cos they're a cheaper and I've no probs with them in the past with either with hardware or software.

this is AMD time to come in and post the 390X if it's all that its cracked up to be. Titan X is totally meh in my opinion, massively expensive, 12GB VRAM is just overkill, almost like ah what the hell if AMD launch 8GB, we'll launch a bigger number. And just way to hot for my liking, plus the benchmarks at 1600p and 4k were just so bland, was expecting much higher numbers indeed. If they had any sense, now the Titan X is out there, bring the cards details out and let ppl decide what to do with their money. They'll give ppl looking for a card something tasty to either hold out for or pre-order. They could steal a big chunk of the market back if it's under £700 and can take out the Titan X. And they should do, they've not released anything since the R2xx series, passed on competing with the Nvidia 9 series. So if they have nothing now in all this time, AMD have totally dropped the ball on this one.

anything on the 390X might not be till tomorrow, AMD should be ok now because Nvidia made one massive mistake............the TX is stupidly expensive

unless their TX little brother is much cheaper.........Nvidia look dead and buried for this year........and i think they will be anyway, because the 390X sounds much too exciting...
