*** AMD Radeon R9 290X Reviews Thread ***

But that's still nothing compare to the amount of heat of pair of cards in CF or SLI.

Most sensible people would have fan(s) on the side-panel of the case for removing the heat from the lower half of the case anyway (this is one reason despite lots of Corsair windowed cases look very good, they are not great for GPU cooling).

90º mobo mounting FTW!

All that hot air just naturally rises out my Raven2, helped along by 3 140mm fans blowing upwards.

Same. Brilliant case design for air cooling. Aren't tjey 180mm Silverstone Air Penetrator fans?

Really tempted to get one of these actually. Wouldn't mind a reference card either tbh.

Need to read a few more reviews first but first impressions look very good.

That chart doesn't really show it as a slayer, it has a 1% lead at 1080p and a 5% lead at 1440p, it slays TITAN at 4k but that resolution is rarely used by anyone yet and by the time it is we'll have a host of new cards.

I'd say it's a Titan slayer purely from a price perspective, even if it was 5% slower than a Titan, it'd still be a slayer to me :P

This is the counter to the Linus benchmark that's rapidly becoming gospel. Good old Humbug. :D :p

People chose what they like to see as gospel, i haven't been through them all yet but the ones i have seen have it trading blows with the Titan or beating it by a touch.

I think to be fair its just as fast as a Titan, only its half the price, it just goes to show how ridicules Nvidia's price has always been for it.

PS: where are those 13.11 B5 Drivers Anand had listed?

He has megalomania and chronic narcissism.

A few months back a user on there asked how to remove anodizing from alu. I replied "With caustic soda".

I then have half of my post deleted by TTL. I reply again, same thing, only, use oven cleaner. I also posted a video of Ryan at West Coast Customs doing just that.

I got banned and TTL changed my username to something bad and trashed my account completely. It must have taken him hours to do.

He has serious issues. Like serious, serious issues with control. I stopped paying any attention to his reviews years ago when he reviewed some really tragic Kingston ram and was vocal about how bad it was, only to buckle and remove the review.

Any level of spine he pretends to have was completely washed away.

I can well believe it and wouldn't be surprised if half the people who back him up are in fact him, with various user names.

Anyways. Seems that the 290X is a Titan beater. Good stuff and I hope Nvidia drop the prices, especially of the Titan to around £600 or under :D

yeah im not loyal to either if i was after a card for gaming and in that price bracket

it would be 2 ice q 7950s , then a 780 gtx then a 290x

nvidia have already milked in TITAN sales for 9 months, surprising just how many here on this forum bought one. They're killing TITAN off on their own accord anyway with the 780ti, they already did so slightly with the 780.

I am paying no attention to these bench results that we have seen (except OcUK's) and will have faith in user bench results. None of them match and are all different. At least a user may show some bias to his/her new purchase but will show a fair bench and give feedback that is worthy.

Well lets look at performance per pound.

Use Titan as 100% @ £800, so £8 per 1%

With the 290x just matching performance, you are looking at 100% for £430, so £4.30 per 1%.

So it is twice as cost-effective as Titan. SLAIN!
