AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

You guys are looking at the wrong score.

If that is a stock card, a 10k graphics score in firestrike is a cause for celebration.

To be fair it's exactly what AMD said it would be in their Hawaii conference thing.

Aye pre -orders were to be available on the 3rd. What did everyone think it was? Lol trolled. :D

I think a smart move for anyone wanting one of these cards would be to avoid the BF4 edition, wait a few weeks and pick up a R9 290X then and get BF4 as one of the free games that come bundled with AMD cards anyway.:D

I agree Kaapalini, but maybe AMD won't add it immediately.

Mr Scotty has already pre-ordered one though. :D

Assuming the stock clock of the 290x is 900 mhz, a core clock of 1.25GHZ will be required to turn over Gregsters volt modded Titan. Considering the 780 chips can do 1.5GHZ on water with 1.45v, this bodes well if AMD have managed to sneak in some process improvements and allow us to use 1.4v.

You are placing a DEPOSIT for your slot in the queue of R290X BF4 Edition Pre-Orders. Upon product launch in October you will need to pay the remaining fee which will be several hundred pounds

Won't give remaining price?

£99 and several hundreds pounds to pay later.. Will people seriously buy something they don't know the final price for?

Not even wait for reviews? That's a risky game imho, remember remember the AMD Bulldozer..

*EDIT* 3. If you are unhappy with the launch pricing or have changed your mind, your full £99 DEPOSIT shall be refunded at your request.

Just seen that ^^ Fair enough.

Nothing like the bulldozer...

This gpu has been built from a solid base that is the 7970..

Of course they will. People paid £900-£1000 pounds for a titan which is a few percent faster than a £500-£550 780.

The R9 290X was boosting to 1000mhz

^^ Yeah what I was saying is I would never buy anything without seeing a few reviews first. OCUK will refund deposit so it's not all bad. Weird that AMD won't release the price though, just seems a bit sketchy.

OFC they will. The game will cost around £40 anyway and to be first with one whilst others are waiting around for a few weeks wont matter to people who can afford a £400+ card anyway...

That was before the 780 had launched though bud, most then sold their Titan's and either bought one or two 780's as the performance is only -5%.

Titan was also aimed at not just gamers as well. Still a market for that GPU and it's large vram now. Gamers are better off with a 780 in terms of price VS performance.

True. if OCUK are going to refund if buyers change their mind on their pre orders than it's happy days.

The whole not revealing solid info from AMD's side just seems sketchy.

I'm in the market for a new pc and most likely want to go crossfire.

How long is it normally from the release of the reference cards till the manufacturers start making some with better cools, higher clocks and such or is that pretty much straight away?
