Are the Vega cards going EoL soon? Isn't this below cost (after removing VAT) or something, given the production costs that were mentioned when these cards came out.

They are not EOL, the problem with VEGA is they are down turned the production simply because the profit is none existent and also the demand poor.

So people like Sapphire still make them, but they charge a lot more.
Powercolor have decided to really reduce their inventory and pretty much stop making VEGA as they feel it loses them money, now they can move production more onto their own product lines like chassis, Vega NANO (their own card, not official AMD product), RX series and I believe Powercolor will do some more work on their own sound card technology.

As with all things if you make and sell an item which makes low or no profit, to continue doing so would bankrupt the company and lets face it if we lost Powercolor AMD would be in a bad place, especially as XFX seem to be very quiet and none existent these days.

VEGA will also get a nanometer reduction, but of course it is believed it won't be consumer level and just for AI, corporate and professional customer bases. The big next thing from AMD is NAVI in late 2019. For now they can focus on the sub £300 market with RX series and from time to time bang out a few VEGA cards for good measure.

I'm in market for a new gpu but don't know much about Vega I'm afraid, how does this fair on a widescreen 1440p monitor? Mostly play PUBG.

Vega 56 can handle 1440P easily, it will even handle 4k within reason.

From what I gather the 56 struggles a little at 1440p Ultrawide (if you're talking about a 3440x1440 resolution). You're better with a 64.

Don't talk rubbish, I am gaming at 3800x1600 with a GTX 970 and it copes, the VEGA 56 trounces the GTX 970, stop been a snob just because you like your giga rays enabled. :p ;)

@Gibbo, wow are you for real, I just got this last week when it was £389.99 thinking it was not going down because you said in your previous powercolor deal post that prices were gonna go up, these were your words - ( Some cracking prices from Powercolor here guys for long Weekend Promotion, or even an AMD Friday come early, prices will go up slightly next week or when stock sells out: ), so I pulled the trigger, and thats after I waited and waited to see if it was going to go down to a bangin bargain price like this. This is deep and im fuming!

You were always asking me regarding Vega 64 and namely Sapphire would come down, I said no at which point you ordered one of these cards, you were not asking about this specific card.
Also when these were done at £389.99 a couple of weeks ago, that was best price.
Since then Powercolor offered me a deal on a new batch of stock which landed this week enabling the power price we now have.

If it helps our CS department can refund you £25, just drop a post in CS section linking to my response here and they can sort that for you.
