AMD Ryzen 5 3500X / 3900 (non-x) ???

Not to shabby. ;)

An marked improvement over my old i7 6700k which I've included as a comparison.

This is stock 3.6Ghz with PBO.
Infinity Fabric @ 1800
I've seen it boost to 4141Mhz, but 4116Mhz seems to be more common.

Ordered one on 9/12 after seeing it mentioned on Toms in October.
£91 with free delivery. Arrived 18/12 - No charges - value $18 LoL
A good replacement for a R5 1400.
There are multiple AliExpress stores selling them - mine was from SZCPU store.
4.1 all core out the box with 1.31v - 63C after a few loops of CB15.
It may well do 4.2/4.3 on Air, but I'm not after gaining a few Mhz for too much extra heat.
Scores 1095 MC CB 15
515 SC 3000 MC on CPU-Z Bench.

Best bargain new CPU I've seen in 20 years computing.

Is that 63c with stock cooler?

No, I have an Antec cooler - similar to their C40 - Best £10 I ever spent 4 years ago :D
The £90 ish 3500x usually don't come with cooler.

You can get the 3500x WITH stock cooler from same sources for around £6-8 more.

The boxed 3500x comes with the Wraith Stealth cooler which is the weakest of the bunch, so I think its better to just skip that and get something still cheap but better like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition.

With just 6 cores though, the wraith cooler might be enough?

Wished id have ordered a snowman now,

Ive noticed that the £ is weakening against the $,prices are creeping up slightly

True with just 6 cores the temps should be fine as long as you dont OC but I also like a quiet build so I would still prefer a better cooler.

I've stated I used Antec cooler similar to C40 - that is an error.
The cooler I have was "Stormforce" branded, Antec built, version of their C400.
A considerably better cooler than the C40.

In OC 4.1ghz state, this idles around 35-37c

Old school Gamer

Would you recommend this cpu now you have tried it ?

I need to do some more in game testing before I come to an conclusion.
My minimum frame rate has definitely increased in CEMU, and I played some DOOM yesterday and that was a butter smooth experience on ultra settings @ 3440x1440p.

But yeah it's looking promising for a 'best bang for buck' recommendation.

What gpu are you using?
