So no monitors with freesync 2 announced yet? Really want a 4K 144 Hz HDR IPS monitor (been waiting like 5 years for a HDR gaming monitor). Not really sure what one would upgrade to after that.

Nvidia and Asus has already announced a monitor with that capabilities so why upgrade to that?

The one thing that bothers me about the AMD/Battlefront video is just how bright it all looks. To me seems like they have a lot of the post processing features turned off which would give lots of FPS back..

Compare it to the video posted on the 1080 and look at how much better lighting and shadows look..

The AMD video certainly doesn't look like its at ultra settings with all the bells and whistles turned on as it looks nothing near that bright on my rig.

It is AMD PR ,which is lead by Roy. That guy is the biggest fraud in tech history and that is one the reason i do not buy AMD products.

it is an A0 engineering sample, most likely running conservative clocks. The demos are just to show it working considering the parts are only supposed to be first run, month old parts.

Polaris 11 was also a engineering sample, which was compared with GTX 950 ,however, the final product turned out worse than GTX 950 in term of performance and efficiency.

Some AMD ** Please do not start using that term - EVH ** are still in a denial that even on Vulkan VEGA is only on par with GTX 1080. It is really a matter of concern for AMD when VEGA performs in 95% of games ,which are mostly based on DX11.

This is exactly what happens when you are short of R&D, customers and logic. You are launching a product nearly after 1 year and still it is on par against competitions second best card.

That is what i said from the start that, AMD cannot even properly beat GTX 1080 with their upcoming GPU after 9- 10 months and they are aim for Volta in their marketing. That is the reason why AMD product fails to deliver because they never ever set the exception of their card honest and real.

Even AMD and AdoredTV said that Doom is best case scenario for VEGA performance and GTX 1080 is matching the performance on the same map.

New vega video from adoredtv.

Totally spot on. AMD showed that demo of Polaris 11 and it was better than the real product launch. A company will never show a demo a product until it is running at its best.

Doom is the best case as possible for VEGA, which is equal to GTX 1080 at their best on DX12 and Vulkan. If Nvidia decides to bury VEGA than it will take only 1 presentation from Hang to that just like they did with GTX 980 Ti.

This is exactly why i wish AMD just do not ever market anything. They always make expectation so high that the only chance is that you will take a noise dive.

They always tend to compare their product and speak about their competitor more like they did in Polaris launch and compare RX 480 CF with GTX 1080, which became disaster for them. Since 3 or 4 year Nvidia has never spoken about AMD or never mentioned about AMD in their marketing or presentation and for them it is like AMD do not exist now a days. It is like AMD is always trying to seek attention at any cost.

The Mindshare is such that AMD need to be better and cheaper than nVdia before just some of the people who have nVidia on their mind to even consider buying AMD instead.

The reality is it doesn't matter how good and or value for money AMD actually are a small but very loud proportion of Nvidia's mindshare are militant, with that no matter how untrue the rhetoric it stops AMD mindshare growth, which is the whole point.

The situation these days is such that AMD can't win, if even survive long term because these days marketing tactics have gone way beyond just honestly promoting your products, and if you are late to that game you are too late.

@ D.P. i think AMD's days in the consumer space are numbered... with that i think we as PC nerds are a dying breed.

AMD marketing is only to make 16 year old kid happy by giving them fantasies. For example, AMD poking Volta, where they are only competing with a GTX 1080 after a whole year. AMD market their product like they will totally destroy Nvidia ,however, in reality is totally opposite.

When AMD balance reality with their marketing than they will be a much better company.

All i want from AMD is just to give their consumer the real expectation not like poking Volta in their ad for VEGA ,which they do not even have a GPU that will beat a GTX Titan X any soon leave alone Volta.

The management and AMD PR is really like leader of the 3rd world country where you promise so many things but you fail to deliver most of that.

The problem what i see with AMD is that they need to save cost. For example GTX 1060 has less rops, less core, less die size compare to RX 480 ,however, it is still competitive with AMDs RX 480, which has around 20% more die size, and double the core etc.

These things cost AMD more than Nvidia ,however, AMD still need to sell these products lower cost than Nvidia competitive products.

So if AMD can't make a much better GPU than Nvidia with similar tools its an embarrassment.

That really doesn't help and its an example of this expectation of AMD must be so much better than nVdia before they are a consideration.

Why not consider an AMD GPU without the loyalties?

What will be your reaction if VEGA is has same performance as GTX 1080 and it it priced same as GTX 1080 after a year?

That's really NOT the point and anyone who does take those ads (or ANY ad for that matter haha) at face value is obviously 6-years old lol! It's still a laughable thing for them to have done, makes no sense and wildly inaccurate and misleading to the nth degree.

AMD is a billion dollar company and it is a globalized company ,however, this is one the reason why AMD fail to win the people who are willing to spend a large amount $$$$ into GPUS. One of the reason is their marketing faults ,which only target market around 16 year old or less.

As I pointed to in the previous page and which DM highlights, I was under the impression the demo could be Vega with a chain around its neck. I hope like you do there's more to it than this but tbh, I'm happy a powerful AMD card is coming out regardless. I don't care who wins the crown for the fastest GPU or whatever but I do want to see competitive price per performance again. Uncontested, well we've seen what Nvidia have done with pricing and as a business where money talks, I don't fault them as it's the consumer that allowed them to do that.

I've been hovering over a 1070 Amp Extreme for the last couple of weeks but going to hold off for Vega. The 290X can keep me going till then. I'm quite excited with this release, I just hope it's a success which benefits us all.
The problem is that AMD is not giving anything new and they are 1 year behind just to give a very similar GTX 1080 performance . Nvidia has all the balls in their court, they can reduce the prices by a lot, which will DOA vega launch just like Fury X or they can even release a GTX 1080 Ti with a similar price of VEGA.

Some people think that big companies ,which are investing billions in their R&D are stupid. AMD knows that they cannot compete with Nvidia high end cards ,therefore, they marking business shifts.

Running GTX 1080 benchmark on the same recorded via shadow play ,therefore, add 4 to 5 fps more.

It shows that how much AMD has given up in the GPU department. VEGA is begin market towards developers more.

I just hope for the sake that Nvidia do not cut price of GTX 1080 and further down than VEGA and if they do that than VEGA is confirm to be DOA for gamers.
