America is in drought! Largest natural disaster in their history.

I heard about the US drought last year, apparently the US government simply ignored the people who literally have no water, their land is barren and such.

Seems like it has gotten worse then, well when the average american is using over 100 gallons daily and even more when you include the wasteful uses, i have little sympathy for a society that basically epitomises greed.

I have no idea how tough conditions really are for farmers but the cynic in me suspects this disaster order was more about unlocking federal money to hose about during an election year..

Dog, what is your strange fascination with the US? Do you feel you're missing out on the anti-america conspiracy scene by living in York?

Genuine question really, while I realise events there affect us to a certain degree, you just seem oddly bitter and obsessed considering you don't live under the regime there. Was your mum in GuanTam or something?

A MEDC like America drought stricken....... The golden beacon that other countries apparently should look up to is in drought...

I don't quite understand this - it's almost like you're saying they bought them on themselves so we should berate them for it. Isn't it fair to say that a drought is generally something that is caused by nature as opposed to man? :p

Most widespread "natural disaster" - possibly. If you can even class it as that.

Largest natural disaster? Come on... You can't compare this to hurricane Katrina, hurricane Andrew, or the San Francisco earthquake... People being slightly restricted with respect to their water usage does not compare to the death and destruction of the above disasters.

But the American media would have you believe that average Americans are facing hardship and cruelty at the hands of the weather gods due to immigrants and their unholy beliefs turning them against America (or that will probably be the Daily Mail version)

Someone told me Iceland is having a record summer too, the hottest for 85 years. Been walking around in shorts for months. The far north of scotland has had 10% of it's usual rainfall recently theres a drought risk up there, must be a first!

*mutters darkly about global warming*

No such luck here. Looked like it was maybe going to cool off, but now they're saying 100 degs + for the next couple of days. Everything is yellow and burned, crops are a bust.....not good.
