Hi

Anyone got Amtico flooring or looked at getting it?

We are considering it for our new home in some areas.

Looking at the front door hall way and also considering kitchens/bathrooms.

What do you think of it? worth the price?

We are going to have a look at one of the retailers on Sunday

My parents & brother got it fitted before christmas, it's quite expensive as they had to have screed put down to level it off. Personally it's expensive. I'd rather do laminate/wood/tiles. But it's not as cold or noisy under foot compared to them.

Quotes they had were about £70 SQM I think.

Ive got Amtico in basically the same areas as you have said - hall, kitchen, utility and bathrooms.

It seems great weve been really happy with it, easy to look after and doesn't scuff etc. We had it already in the house when we bought it though so I cant comment on value for money but it comes with a 25yr guarantee I was told and people I spoke to in the trade spoke highly of it.

When i was looking at flooring i thought it looked pretty good. What i liked was that you could get each colour in a few options (beveled edge, plank width etc), we ended up with Karndean as we preferred one of the designs but i would've liked the ability to get it in a wider plank.

What i did find was that most places quote pretty high prices but i found a guy who was quite a bit cheaper and i'm happy with the work and when a few pieces started to lift he came back quickly to resolve it. You're local to me so i can give you his number if you want? Think our 60m2 area came to around £40/m including screed. That was for Karndean Black Knight which i think is around £18/m2 so it's around £20/m2 for the screeding.

Just looked at Amtico and Karndean for our new kitchen extension but the installers want 2-3 days prep, screed, self leveller, sealer, etc before they start laying, it pushed the price well over £70 m2 which is out of budget for me and quite frankly ridiculous for LVT (IMHO). I asked if I could do the floor prep myself but apparently for that 25 year warranty, it all has to be done be an approved installer and signed off by them. I am now looking at Balterio kitchen / bathroom laminate as I can get it installed at £35m2 as I need nearly 40m2.

I've also got Amtico in all the areas you mentioned. I got it fitted 18 years ago and it still looks great, in fact, I'm just about to renew everything in the kitchen except the flooring. I'm also ripping out two bathrooms and will be replacing those floors but only because the colour won't fit in with the redo.

We've got Amtico downstairs and love it. We bought the house with it fitted through the hallway and into the kitchen and was very impressed with how it looks and feels. We dug out the invoice from the previous owner and had the fitter back to do the lounge and dining room.
Is not cheap, but looks amazing.
If I was to offer any advice it would be to get some samples ordered, with various designs and textures. And shop around for prices. We were fortunate because our fitter doesn't supply, so he recommended where to look for best prices and who to speak to for design ideas.
Also I should say that how good it looks, is going to be down to how good your fitter is. Our fitter does this flooring only, and is booked up for months.
He spent ages prepping the floor, and after laying it down he then went and marked any imperfections with pencil, and replaced the strip. Prior to fitting the Amtico was laid flat in the house and left for a day to acclimatize.

Thanks, we are going to the flooring centre in Bamber Bridge tomorrow, they seem to have a decent stock to look at and will see what they offer price wise for fitting to get an idea. They seem to get some good reviews for fitting Amtico though.

We have ordered some samples and are thinking of the Corona Moderna for the front door area but haven't decided on the kitchen and utility room or bathrooms yet.

Hopefully with it being a new build the floor should be level but prob not :p

The sub floor to the amtico needs to be almost perfect. If you have uneven floors and don't want to or can't afford to latex look at something with a underlay

Karndean is an alternative supplier - bit cheaper.

We have it, very happy, and yes - we needed to tank and screed the floor first.

In a modern house it can look alright, if that's the look you're going for, but don't like seeing these man made floorings in older houses. We did weigh up some wood effect ones, but went with engineered oak in the end. No regrets.

well certainly not wrong about it being pricey.

3 floor 4 bed house with utility came in at 6.5k rough quote.

This was bedrooms, lounge, stairs and landings all carpeted £20/sqm. Hall way, kitchen and utility in Amtico. (We get bathrooms tiled as part of house deal.)

The wife did manage to pick the most expensive Amtico style aswell :/

We got an invoice but it does not have prices on, just a breakdown of items and a total. This is also not done of accurate measurements but the house plan you get so it could be slightly cheaper.

I don't know if this is expensive or not so we will be checking a few other places out to get quotes also.
