Utter nonsense.

As discussed in the recent thread about Pete Doherty, it's almost unknown for anyone to be imprisoned simply for drug misuse. Addicts in jail are usually there for offences in connection to their addiction (theft to fund their addiction, violence whilst under the influence etc.). Since Ms Winehouse and Mr Doherty have no need to steal to fund their addictions, it's unlikely that they will face jail any more than any other addict who has committed no other crimes.

These people only differ from "ordinary" addicts in that the gutter press hound them looking for a story to fill the pages of their tawdry publications to feed the need of a large section of the British public for sensationalism and also their need to feel self-righteous indignation. There are a great many people who **** up their lives to a much greater extent than these people that we never hear of because it isn't considered to be "newsworthy".
 
She was probably doing much the same before she lost all that weight.

I feel sorry for the Chasing Pavement girl who is apparently the next Amy Whinehouse :rolleyes:

Adele isn't the next Winehouse.

She doesn't have the talent, for a start. Or at least it isn't easily discernible in that rubbish she has out at the min :)
 
She is a scumbag, but it's the media (and conversly the public) that actually irritate me. If people didn't insist on buying tripe that plaster her exploits all over the front page, she wouldn't sell as many records and we wouldn't have to read about her exploits in the press, etc.

With the recent news of Heath Ledgers death, it occured to me how unfair life is. The world has lost a real acting talent while no-hoper scum like doherty parade around coked off their nuts while the public support their habit like morons. He should be dead 5 times over by now.
 
I admit to being a big fan of her music, she is completly ****** up though. Hopefully she'll realise it one day and sort herself out

Absolute crap.
The major difference between Winehouse/Doherty and other drug misusers is that they have money and buy their own.
They don't get up to any criminal activities to fund their addiction so they're only harming themselves.
Doherty was caught driving while drugged up but he didn't hurt anybody and like any other drink driver he would just be banned.
The pair of them are not be treated any differently than anybody else.

We had this conversation last night at College about the fact that the police and control agencies virtually know where all 7,600 dealers are but its very rare they are arrested.
The simple fact is that they know where they are and can keep an eye on them hoping to get Mr Big (not the 80's rock band either).
Yes they are giving to drug dealers but they're also helping control agencies in their work (if that makes sense).
