An Extreme makeover!

I keep going back to the RC8 :D

Was talking to a guy when I rode to Weymouth last time, he had one and said it was a brilliant bike for the road, a perfect blend of power and handling, but he did say that the twin was a bit of a pita around town; a mate has an SP2 and says the same thing - should be dropping a tooth on the front soon, so will be interesting to see if the higher revs make a Twin better around town...

Well, roll on getting my knee and insurance payout sorted then, I’m gagging to get back onto a bike :D

Been watching youtube videos of the RC8 – sounds awesome, I think the sound alone is enough to temp me to the Twin side!

On a side note – just looking at a replacement lid (not buying yet mind!), had a Shoei XR1100 before, so will likely go for another one of those, but the Shoei X-Spirit II caught my eye…. then I saw the price:

£579.99

Glad you are ok fella.
You made a good job of taking the parts off the R1;)

As has already been mentioned, it's only a machine and can be replaced.
Best to try and get back in the saddle pretty quickly, so you don't lose too much confidence.

Thanks :)

I decided to rob the cans off it before it was collected today, so the insurers get a set of mint standard cans – I hope that’s not an issue (can’t see why not!), the Two Bros once aren’t too bad, need a clean up, possibly new end caps and one needs a pipe (just bolted on); but other than that they are ok – same for the Akra Y pipe.

Stick with what you know m8, if you like Shoei's then they are the lids for you. That X-Sprint II is mega bucks though!!. I have an Arai shaped head and flogged my Doohan replica RX7RR4 last year despite it being mint and never dropped. It was just getting "on a bit". So I went for an AGV Stealth Dragon and it is a fantastic lid, although it is a bit noiser than the Arai was. At first i wasn't convinced of the fit, it seemed a bit tight, but it has got better through use and I'm quite happy with it. Pics :-

I still have my Arai Chaser, but I loved the inside of the Shoei – compared to the Arai it was very firm, whenever I wore the Arai it always felt like putting my head in cushion :p I like the shape of the Shoei better too.

Not considered another AGV, have my S4 somewhere, but was a little put off of that when it gave me a bout of tinnitus – maybe I’ll take a look at the upper part of their range….

Glad to hear your ok mate!

Can happen to anyone really. And as for your attitude I'm not sure I would be able to get straight back on a bike after that! Had a crash in my car once and was driving the next morning no problems, however a bike is a different ball game!

Thanks Fella :)

My family aren’t too chuffed with me wanting to ride still, they’ve seen me have three bike accidents now, one very serious, and just want me to call it a day. My friends who don’t ride are also similar, but obviously they don’t have the stronger emotional ties there.

Frankly, I love riding, it is easily one of the best things I have done in my life, and I cannot see my opinion changing, it’s difficult trying to get family to see this, as I know they care for my welfare; but the flip-side of that is that I also expect them to respect my feelings also.

I literally am itching to get back in the saddle now, not only because we will probably still get some more decent weather, but because I miss it so much now, and that’s a problem – I’ll likely barrel into getting another bike, rather than wait it out for a few months for new models/better deals :D

Seriously though, when I had my serious off in 08, I was laying in A&E being worked on planning the next bike purchase (a blue R6 at that point :p), and as soon as I got up from this one I said “well, time for that RC8” – so I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be back on a bike :)

The alternatives aren’t too safe either – I got hit in the car last year, and I was run over by a van on my push bike this year…. only thing left is walking, but I get so bored doing that, and besides I’d probably get hit by someone mounting the kerb :D
