The temperature gauge on my Elise has been reading rather low recently, around the 72c mark, but I've not been too bothered as I was pretty sure it was just the sensor misreading. I finallly decided to drop it off at the garage on Monday morning so on Sunday I went out for a blast in the sunshine just incase I was to be without her for a few days. Cue an hour long blast where I don't think I changed up before the rev limiter once
and upon my return I noticed that the temperature was up to 90c and the fan hadn't kicked in (previously it had been) I went for a little jaunt round town and the temperature stayed at a nice steady 84c, exactly where it should have been. It's remained well behaved all week so I am going to classify that as a fix
Moral of the story, don't take your car to the garage to get it fixed, instead take it for an hour long spanking in the sun and it'll fix itself
