Yup, got my bfg 295 back from rma, was working fine save for crysis dropping to 1fps for several seconds at a time before speeding back up. Tried setting the nv control panel to full power, loaded up crysis got a grey screen, had to shut the system down now the cards not working anymore...

Rma time again it seems. :(

Something not right there somewhere Gerard

I've had similar bad luck with cards before.. but a new power supply soon fixed it.

Are you running Windows 7 by any chance?

Yup running win 7. I cant see it being a psu issue as the 2900xt is chugging along with no probs.

PSUs are funny though, if its dodgy and not giving the card enough power it can kill them (I'd rather keep that discussion to msn though..)

I imagine the 295 pulls a lot more power than the 2900XT!

I asked about the Windows 7 as it has power management stuff in the control panel, is yours set to max performance?

Yeah its on max at the moment, It actually reminded me of the old powerplay bug that was hapenning in crysis, certain sections would go really sluggish then it would speed up to full pelt again.

This is really the first card ive had that has worked properly for any amount of time, first one had a dead gpu, second one had faulty ram and just wouldn't boot to windows as soon as any form of driver was installed for it.

Im going to try attaching an external psu to it to see what happens, then try it in another system.

BLOODY ATI AND THEIR UNRELIABLE CARDS! YOU ALWAYS GET PROBLEMS! FOR PEACE OF MIND, GET NVIDIA!

Oh wait! :o :p

I relaly don;t understand why the green led on the card is lit up, i thought it was supposed to go red when a card had failed (red only appears when i power it one with 1 power cable)? Also no blue led lighting up on the board, to indicate what port the dvi cable is in, been like that since i got it though.

Oh well, emailing bfg again :(

Can you try it in a different machine? From the other BFG thread it did sound like JK was going to have that one extensively tested prior to despatch.

It does seem odd that you have had 3 duff cards in a row.

The only other machine i have here has a 430 watt psu, not gonna power the card properly with that. Would have to get a lend pf my brothers psu which will no doubt be a massive annoynace to him.

The card i got abck definately appears to be a refurb, the vents along the top have marks on them and a bit of dust in the intake fan.

They might have gone under already

:D

To be honest their tech support seems very sketchy, its meant to be 24/7 from what ive read but ive went literally days with no response to emails. Id prefer to get the rma ball rolling as fast as possible.

So far I've not been waiting for more than 2 hours for replies from BFG support... my card goes out tomorrow so we'll see how it actually goes in practise.

Theyre probably raising an eyebrow at card # 3 going **** up, but truth be told ive seen a few other posts on other forums with people going through muliple rma's before they got a properly working card, and thats just not a reflection on bfg either, the 280 and 285 seem to have their fair share of multiple rma posts.

The previous rma was pretty fast, card came direct from wales, had it in about 5 days after i sent the other card back so the service is good, just seems im not having much luck in getting a card that works properly :( The card was really hauling ass in crysis at 1920x1200, but right off the bat it was doing these weird random fps divebombs that really reminded me of the ati powerplay bug. Didn't seem to affect mw2 or tf2 though.

Well I bought another 260GTX (Gigabyte super clocked) to tide me over anyhow so not to bothered but hope its sorted first time... plus being close to xmas not sure what the timeframe would be like. Prolly give the RMA replacement to my bro if its any good.

Tho it is quite tempting to get an i5 or i7 tri-sli board :D
