And so I face.... the final curtain :(

Yep, I've decided to sell the Gixxer after 8 months of ownership - as in the last three months, I've ridden it a handful of times, so can't really justify having the money tied up in the bike, when it would come in handy for an upcoming house move with my fiancée.

Though I'll miss this brilliant bike, I've not felt the connection to it as I had with the Ninja or R1, can't explain why, as it's such an amazing bike

Oh well, I've set the price to be negotiated down, though it seem in-line with most private prices, and I will be back on two wheels in the very near future - I'm set on a Street Triple as the next bike; love the looks, engine, riding position/style etc :D

Is that your own postcode you used on the autotrader link?? ;)

Gutted to hear your selling up mate, seen it happen a lot recently, 5+k tied up in a bike is a lot if your not using it, sort of the reason I have not bought a new one yet as I wont use it as much as I would want this year, plus prices will be cheaper come the winter :D
You wont regret getting an ST when you do!

Hahaha, yes it is - wouldn't want to come here though lol :p

The money would be handy right now, but I'm not in a rush to shift it - if it goes it goes, someone will want it eventually :)

Really looking forward to the Street though, if its anything like the Daytona on engine and brakes, it'll be perfect :D

I was thinking more the sneaky bike thieves that scour forums for victims :(

Unfortunately nothing like the Daytona imo mate, not to say that's a bad thing though! The brakes are still perfect just not the same bite as the Daytona's, unless you get the R then they are radials like the Daytona.
Engine wise obviously less power and the way it delivers it is different but its still damn fast and will get to break neck speeds rapidly ;)
I thought it would help me tone it down but no it just makes you a hooligan in a different way :p

They can have it lol :D Though, don't fancy the hassle of dealing with insurance at the moment.... erm, sneaky bike thieves, that's the post code for a massive Police station.... not my house.

One of the reasons I've looked at a naked is the desire to tone it down, even just a tad - hoping that prison-time type speeds might be less on something with naff all fairing. Going by your experience though, it seems that it might be just as mad lol.

Quite looking forward to one, my settlement for the accident in 2008 might be on the horizon, so maybe the 'R' version could be the way forward :D

I'd definitely reccomend the R version, had mine for just under 4 months and just about to go over 4500 miles, loving every second :)

I'd say it's a step down in 'hooning' speeds to the Daytona, but not much, it's so good it practically begs to be taken to silly speeds, and I'm so very weak...

Way back in 2008 I test rode back-to-back the non-R street triple and the 'old' Daytona, the main difference I found was in suspension (brakes I barely noticed as I don't tend to brake all that much on the roads), in the end I went for the Daytona although gave that up shortly after starting racing as I didn't see the point of a sports bike on the road,

Then at the end of January I test rode the Street Triple R and it's fantastic, much better suspension than the non-R, I do think nakeds like this are the way forward, I do 37 miles each way commute at the minute and most of that is just 'trundling' along, riding a sports bike for that ride would be tiring whilst the striple gives me the performance when pushing it and the comfort when just trundling :)

Can you tell I'm a fan? :)

Hahaha, just a bit :p ;) :D

Thanks for the post though, I've just watched a video about the suspension on the non R version and it seems not only is it limited, but with the weight of two people, potentially dangerous - mainly the rear sag.

I'll certainly consider the R version, it looks like a really nice prospect, but come buying time, I'll make sure I try both versions out - I too brake very little on the road; even when I do it's usually only the rear (excluding emergency stops mind!).

Quite looking forward to something where you're not in such a committed riding position all the time; not that I've had many aches etc (only really my knee), it would just be nice to ride 'relaxed' I guess, and I loved the flat bars on the Suzuki I passed DAS on :)
