Another accident, thoughts on liability and possibility of write off?

I'd agree with the one lane in/one lane out so its a single lane roundabout and you'd be at fault although with insurance nothing is ever cut and dry it seems (never had to make a claim myself). Maybe its wider than a single car but not marked in 2 lanes as this would allow wider vehicles eg lorries, buses more turning space around the roundabout.

I dont know how long you have been driving but the most basic rule is to treat every other driver as a clueless idiot and assume nothing. Seems from the post in the thread that you assumed she was going straight on when she wasnt.

PS you say "another accident" like you have had at least 1 before?
 
If she isn't claiming for damage are you best off not dropping it and fixing yours on the cheap? You did hit her after all.
 
They did an assessment before they took the claim on, they made sure I had a viable claim (in their opinion).

Even if it goes 50/50 I won't be too bothered, luckily the car I'm in now is holding value pretty well at the moment so should be a decent payout if it comes down to a write off.

My other accident was someone pulling out and then stopping in my lane at point blank range, no way could I have avoided that. :p
 
Why would they write it off for scuffed bumper/alloy/wing and a dented wing. Surely that's a fix that would be significantly cheaper than a write off payout ?

Tbh it doesn't have much further to fall in value does it, if it has MOT and Tax then its worth a grand pretty much!
 
If what you say is true, then she is at fault because you should only be in the outside lane if you are going straight over a roundabout or taking an earlier exit.

All roundabouts apart from mini roundabouts have 2 lanes regardless of markings. She should have kept to her outside lane.

If I were you I wouldn't worry too much, you'll probably win, if the cost of repairs to your car is more than about 60% of its value it will probably be a write off. And take into account the garages that repair these cars charge ridiculous amounts.

Did you have any injuries?
 
Matt - I'm surprised you went to the insurers, what is this going to do to your future premiums? They're going to bend you right over, surely?

If she's not going to claim for her damage, I think I'd have swapped details, given her the bird and cleared off sharpish.

Round here there's a roundabout that everyone, myself included, always two lanes. There's no road markings saying two lanes or one lane.

Someone going from the camera to the right will be alongside the RHS of that Astra in the photo. Where the camera is people will be queuing in two-lanes alongside each other for about five cars (only for the front five cars as further back the lane is only wide enough for one car).

Don't know whether it's legal or not, but with people doing what they do the queue certainly flows better.
