Another crazy person, oh wait I mean diseased person

This is why all fathers should be allowed to use the pimp hand to bring kids into line. I remember getting slapped with one of my trainers when I was refusing to go for a haircut. I got my hair cut then.

What a great idea. Kids don't do what you want - beat the **** out of them that'll work. Might want to reconsider that line if you ever have kids well that is unless you want them on the child protection register.

Yes, fathers should slap their daughters about, so when they go out into the world looking for a partner they know they really love them when they get knocked about by said partner.

Come on, get a grip.

Yes, because it's not possible to discipline a child physically without it escalating into a brutal, full-on assault. I mean, who has the self restraint to stop after a slap on the buttocks; surely it has to progress onto a savage beating?!

Hysteria over slapping is really tiresome. Discipline your children, or they'll end up being disobedient, maladjusted brats.

One can discipline ones child without resorting to whacking them around the head with a trainer... It can actually be done without physically hurting them at all. But hey, it is the easy option, go for it.

Fwiw I've resorted to a rare bum slap with mine, but never over something like 'I wont eat my food'.

It is also possible to bother to read what the person you are quoting is referring to. In this case not a smack on the bum (i.e leaving no mark and therefore within the law) but "slapped with one of my trainers".

And when does not smacking ever equate to a lack of discipline? I never said "do not smack" I just pointed out what the person I was replying to was implying a little bit more than that. Irregular smacking to prevent otherwise unpreventable events has its place before the ages of 6 but it is no substitute for good parenting which revolves around discussion, explanation and non-physical consequences. And my kids are not disobedient and only 2 of them (of 5) have been smacked 3 times each.

I thought the OP had made a thread about himself for a moment then...

Thanks (for the hate Rob) I'm actually not that picky an eater, don't even remember the last time I ate Pizza

Weren't you both smacked as kids? I think a fair amount of 80's kids were and for the majority it didn't do them any damage.

Works better than the naughty step or "I'm very disappointed in you"

I had gastro-enteritis when I was in my early teens. It certainly can do odd things to your appetite. For several months afterwards, even the smell of coffee would make me feel ill. It was my favourite drink before the illness (and is again now) - but for a while there I couldn't go near the stuff.
