The Enzo is designed to split in two to keep the (potentially burning) engine away from the occupants, also to stop them being crushed by heavy drivetrain components.
That Wikipedia article on him had him down as the owner of the car, now says it was loaned to him. Anyone know which version of the story is actually accurate?
