Just been browsing the GTi-6 forum and found this..

So this is the second accident at Castle Combe ?
Not a nice day for Simon. It seemed the brakes failed completely and his only option was to put the car sideways and collide with the fellow racer. Second time in a few months I believe.

Click me..

Video is quite long though.. crash happens somewhere around the 10 minute mark although I enjoyed watching him Battle with the Red Evo for ages :)

Not the best way to stop a car with no brakes though as I'm sure most of you will decide, but at 110mph you don't have time to think !

damn, that was bad. still like everyone has said, better than plouging into the wall at 100 odd.

Not sure whether he deliberatly put his car into the red evo though?

Also should think the repair bill for the red evo will be slllightly more than the 106

Must be a serious failure, servo totally went / brake pedal linkage went / if one hose went the system should still brake on two wheels assuming a diagonal split system.

Hmm not so sure about that, lots of high strung turbo engines smoke loads when on W O T + the camera looks right by the exhaust so you're seeing the worst of the smoke.

This may shed some light http://lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=202709

He is somewhat 'on the edge' with his style I think it's fair to suggest. Another place I am a member of, which tends to have a few 'hands' of some repute, is generally being somewhat less choosy with their words. He is getting a bit of a reputation, though as with all things there are always 2 sides to everything.

My view is it broke and he was a passenger. Others are suggesting he could have taken a different route when it did break and I think thats easy to say from a keyboard, but there is no question his style is somewhat 'agressive'.

From what I've read, it seems the cars brakes weren't the best early on, the red car has less horsies than Norris car but it kept outbraking him.. if he did know something wasn't quite right.. why didn't he quit the race

Mitsubishi Lancer Forum..

That forum is funny ! Anyone who says anything contreversial about Mr Norris gets a right telling orf :D

The cause of the crash was total brake failure on the approach to Tower, I applied the brakes three times but all that happened was the rears locked and unlocked scrubbing no speed. Becuase of this I turned the car in very very early (before the corner) to try and get the car sideways so I could scrub off some speed. It stopped an even more serious possible outcome......ie death for me!

Sadly this meant HEAVY contact with Gary (Orange car) and then the tyre wall. There was a full investigation today (after the event) and I have been praised by the clerk of the course for the way I dealt with a very nasty situation. The official cause was "mechanical failure".

Sadly this 800mile old Evo 9 RS is a total loss, needs a reshell in the minimum. I may just break the car and take some time out until the green car is fixed though. Kind of makes you realise how dangerous motorsport can be.

Cheers all

Si

p.s. The brakes had boiled fluid which had no previous signs until I applied them on the approach to this corner.

Thats Simon Norris himself.. when I managed to boil the brake fluid in my 205 ( Caliper was abit grotty and stuck on ) you knew about it gradually, you didn't just suddenly realise, it all seems abit fishy to me :(

Reading that MLR thread.

Rather funny. Mr. Norris threatening violence over the internet because someone called him out for driving like a plum.

He must have really small genitals.

He dont belong on a track imo. Turned in very very early trying to scrub speed on grass?.. In the process taking someone else out and endangering their life! Lucky no one was killed. That was quite a nasty impact. Your brake fluid dont just instantly boil and you have no brakes either.

simon norris seems like such a tool, reading those posts on that evo forum. i mean threatening to visit somebody's house to deal out a beating just because of what he said on a forum. seems pretty low.

and is that forum some sort of shrine to the man or what?

the phrase cheque book racer springs to mind.
