So, the limit is now 2.66gb or something a day. A week ago i was converting my rapidshare points into usage. For 150 points you got 5gb. I have just converted some points i have left and for 150 i got about 400mb.

What the hell is going on with this company?

They are attempting to make money - much like many company's out there.

For $54.99 (£39.69) you can have a more or less unlimited account for a year.
That's 76p/week or aorund the 10p/day mark.

Surely this is the way forward?

I gave them another 10 euros and this gay limit disappeared. It's very unclear how it works and their customer support monkeys were not very helpful either.

I'd love to know what percentage of Rapidshare's downloads are of legal content.

It's pretty odd really that a company can legally make money solely out of hosting porn/warez/TV shows.

Why do people convert certain things into cost/day? It's a scale I've never really understood.

It's more about bandwidth per day, and the drastic decrease in bandwidth per day in relation to cost. Rapidshare unfortunately seem to have taken on a measure of success and hiked prices in a dastardly manner, by reducing the service. Seems a bit silly to me though, because the majority of their business will be porn/pirated goodies and basic file transfer, and the market must react so quickly (as is the case now, most of the users of the rapidshare forums I have been using for a year or so are now shifting to other companies due to the cost and bandwidth caps). Surely they must be shooting themselves in the foot.

Its great for a 2nd backup for important data too, photos, docs.

Never had a problem with Rapidshare. Coming into my 8th month of a 1 year account.

Edit: actually only once, for about 2 hours during peak time one day; the speed was a little slow.
