Total blocks used were about 550/600 maximum.

I know, it's a joke isn't it, they are constantly saying they would have come back and fixed it but I don't want them anywhere near it.
Re travellers, the accent on a couple of them yes, but they have an actual company name which strikes me as them not being travellers...? Could be wrong though...

The name means nothing, they just invent them or copy local company names or even copy manufacturers names like Marshalls/stonemarket/brett etc.
unfortunately you were over charged, there are 50 blocks to 1m2 so 600 is 12m2 which should cost £700 to £900 for a first class job.
Breakdown of job.
12m2 of blocks @ £15 m2 = £180
1 ton base £40 (if they even used MOT type 1 hardcore which i doubt)
1 ton sharp sand £40
2 bags kiln dried sand £10
cement, diesel etc... £40
Removal of original ground/base £40
One labourer £80 to £100
Total expenses for your job about £450
