Hi guys, I currently own a now antiquated 50" Panasonic G20 plasma and im in need of an upgrade. Been planning for a while but continued to wait year on year watching the tech evolve. Clearly its still not perfect but I can't wait much longer.

I originally planned to buy a 55" LG OLED B6 but after reading through the owners thread, there appears to be lots of screen quality issues, plus complaints of judder, then I go on to learn that its only 50s response time which has me concerned for gaming.

I'm considering a 65" Samsung K8000 as an alternative, perceived benefits being a larger TV in the same budget (~£2800), ~20ms response time and seemingly less overall owner issues.

Can anyone offer any feedback please? I know we have a few experinced folks on here. I originally planned a £4K budget but plan to keep the new TV for maybe 3 years and upgrade sooner this time around. I've already done some initial viewing in the high street, but prefer to also hear some owner opinions before I do my last indepth due diligence in store.

Usage:

PS4 gaming
SD/HD TV
1080p MKV bluray rip streaming
Some 4K content once I begin to build my library

I'm a big movie/TV buff with some occasional gaming.

If you take your gaming seriously your better off with a smaller screen suited to gaming, and use the TV for well TV, movies, etc and single player games.

I have a spare HDMI connected up to my TV and just switch them at the back of the PS4 takes two seconds and I can then switch from a 55" screen to a 24" monitor in seconds. However I do feel 27" would be better as the 24" even when sitting close can feel a bit small. I got a 24" to match my other monitor so can use dual screens on PC as well. You can even get a really good gaming tv for £300 these days that is 32" a bit more gets you a 40-42". Reason why is explained below 4k sets have poor refresh rates and high latency in comparison to decent 1080p sets.

OLED has issues atm, fantastic PQ when they work but all sorts of niggles that need ironed out. £3K is a lot of money, you could get a very good 55-60" 4K screen and a decent 1080p projector setup for that kind of money.

The problem with a lot of these 4k screens is the ones with low latency and decent refresh rates cost a bomb. If your looking at gaming on them then your looking at spending the full £3K on one tv. HDTVtest is your best bet. They have a review filter system, plug in the type of screen you want and it will show you your options. You could always email a pro calibrator and get them to advise you on a tv as well as come round and professionally calibrate it for you.

I would recommend that due to you owning a plasma. That way you will get the very best PQ available for your money today. Otherwise you may be feeling where did your £3K go as it's no better than your panny plasma apart from in res.

Thanks for everyones input.

Spent a lot of time today at Newcastle, in both Fenwicks and John Lewis comparing the Samsung KS9000 and LG B6. I'm sold on the B6 and would like to purchase a 65" model. My concerns over gaming performance have to be put to one side, as I know movies will just be so enjoyable on the B6 despite the gaming input lag.

Where in the UK is best to purchase and why? John Lewis? Richer Sounds? Online store? Purple shirt brigade? I plan on initially paying on credit card to give me some protection.

John Lewis - free 5 year warranty, customer service second to none, they will sort any issue out for you whereas others fob you off to the manufacturer, price match policy so you can get the best price.

The 55"B6 is fantastic ,very uniform screen ,much better than the majority of 65",s Richer Sounds are doing it for £2499 in store
