Another UB joins the ranks.

Good going dude :).

Have to say it will be a shame when the hammer drops, but it seems inevitable (from the little that I can tell at least).

Any clarity from the dons at this time as to the direction of the forums?

from what ive heard a lot of people think it will happen, but dont want it to happen etc. imo this is the 1st action of this big move

if it does happen it will be a mighty shame, a lot of OCUK is about pointless spam :p

If what you're saying - and I understand correctly - is true and this place turns into a technical only forum, I can see a lot people leaving and not coming back. But that's for another time.

Congrats dude :)

I wouldn't have thought the Dons know much more than anyone else, if anything at all. Nor would I expect information to come out prematurely (which I imagine is the case at this time, if indeed any changes are planned).

Well obviously :p

A huge amount of members on the forum today have no interest in hardware whatsoever.

Congrats to the new UB :)

I wish the decisions etc were a little more transparent :( .

Turning primarily tech sort of detracts from the community spirit though. A spirit which as far as I have seen has been pretty fundemental to the place. Just a thought.
Still, ultimately i'm not faced with the server/bandwidth bill, so I suppose it's easy for me to pass judgement.

But likewise, a huge amount have no or little interest in GD ;) I guess the management decided they wanted UB's for both sides of the forum :)

Thanks :)

god you sound like an underboss already :p

congrats

Good move. Whilst the community here in GD is fantastic, the technical side of the forum has grown increasingly under-represented. At the end of the day this is Overclockers UK, which seems strange when GD is as big as all the other forums put together. I don't think GD will disappear, just a happy medium which isn't as one-sided as we are currently.

No one has said any lifestyle forum is going to be closed/deleted, all thats happening is that more technical based members are being taken onboard. As mentioned already, the hardware forums are severely under represented, and we're simply seeking to put that right.

The hardware forums are where this place started, so getting some Dons/UB's with more hardware knowledge to help out makes sense.

hee-hee, I sowed the rumour seeds. :D

Hey mate, are you an even newer UB than me and Yewen? Good to see I didn't last as the newest for long.

I hope more people in GD recognise you than they do me :D
