Another UB joins the ranks.

Even I'm making an effort to keep an eye on GD, and before being made an UB you could have counted my posts in GD on two hands.

After all the praise you've had lets hope your very high standards in Software doesn't fall because you've got to go elsewhere. Most people have only x amount of time on the forums and if you've now got to divide it up then we will lose out on your vast knowledge.

Which forums in particular? I'll see if I can help out :)

The 2 games forums. Myself and Haly were pretty much the only 2 members of the mod team to go in there on a regular basis (I always considered it my main forum, and still do), and we ran it together. Now there's no-one else (except maybe Yewen) who....

a) will go in there on a regular basis

b) has the knowledge required to keep on top of everything that may come up.

As I said though, I'm sure it's all in hand, and I may be forgetting someone who is already looking in on it.

Have you got me confused with another UB? I mainly post in hardware, software is NathanEs area :)

I've always lurked in the PC Games forum, and I post every once and a while in the BF2 threads. I'll make sure I spend a bit more time in there, and get a bit of a feel for Console gaming :)

Just mention in the SE about getting someone else on the RTM list, I still report whatever rulebreaks I find. :)

Edit: This is all off topic anyway, another congrats to NathanE to get it back on track :)

It has been brought up I think.

And I do read and post in it regular just to clear it up, all is in hand I think. :)

Completely agreed. While I have no problem with a push for a more hardware orientated approach in general, I certainly hope OcUK doesn't lose the community feel it currently has. GD with it's faults and all are a huge part of the magic of OcUK. I for one have spent thousands of pounds with OcUK based primarily on a respect for not only the company itself but also for the forums and the community here.

Likewise.

I have spent thousands building up my folding farm here (folding for team 10 - obviously) and probably would not have done so had it not been for the forums.

The advice offered in the tech based sections of the forums is top notch and I have learned a great deal about hardware and overclocking from these forums.

I have also enjoyed the social aspect of the lifestyle sections very much and I feel that this is where most of the community spirit is generated (not to detract from the cameraderie in the tech forums, of course).

IF there is some agenda aimed at reducing the lifestyle sections of the forums in order to move back towards a more tech based forum then (in my opinion) it would probably be wise to consult the membership to find out which (if any) aspects of the forums attract members to spend their hard earned cash in the shop. For me it is the mixture of helpful advice and community on the forums which induces me to buy from the shop.

When building my folding machines, I have rarely checked other hardware outlets, mainly because I am happy with the service here (which includes the forums) - although the preferred carriers have let me down 3 times and I think this aspect of the business may need to be looked at.

I am aware that the owner of the business pays for the forums and that he always maintains that very little business is garnered from them but I would disagree on this point (most of the £5,00-£6,000 I have spent here has been on hardware to fold for the OcUK team and purchased here because I felt comfortable being part of the community).

Recent events (concerning people whom I consider to be friends) have lessened my enjoyment of the forums and I would suggest that, if the owner has an agenda as regards the forums, he may be wise to share it with the community - lest he drive away loyal members (and more importantly, customers).
