Hey,

I have had the antec 900 for 6 months now, and yesterday I installed my 8800GT, and now I realized one of the fans isn't woking anymore.

you have 2 fans in the front, and the top one doesnt work, but the bottom one does work.

could this be a connection problem? or is it dead? what should I do to test this?

btw, if its dead for sure, can I buy new replacement fans?

thank you

This might seem obvious, but check the fan power connectors first. Always a chance you knocked it when installing the GT.

ok i will do that, the I did check it but couldnt find anything. I think the fan and the blue led use the same power, and the LED is still burning.

if that is not the problem, which one would be a good replacement?

preferably with no lights, and if lights then blue.

the antec uses "TriCool" fans, but they don't sell those anywhere.

I bought the case in May, so thats 7 months, I will still try that though.

btw its the 120mm fan that broke, not the 200mm. this is the fan that cools my harddrives if I have any behind it. it's the least important fan atm, because my 2 harddrives are behind the other cooler.

You might not even want to replace it then. A fan blowing over nothing isn't doing a huge amount anyway, just make sure you have the two survivors turned up high enough to match the 200mm output (if the 200m is on M, have the 120mm's on M too or higher, negative pressure inside a case = bad).

If you really want to replace it, I'd consider getting two instead of one and fixing the extra to the mounting on the side panel to assist CPU cooling. But be sure to check the noise ratings (db) of any fans you get. Tricool fans are rated at 25, 28, 30db for L/M/H speeds respectively.

if you purchased 7 months ago RMA the fan why shell out more money to replace the fan? You bought the product it has a warranty.

From Antec site For Warranty Service or to return a product

In the event that warranty repair or replacement is required, or for other returns, Antec will request proof of purchase (store receipt or invoice). Please note that you must provide that in order to receive warranty service.

because I am at uni here, and I can't just send back my case. I need my pc daily, without it I have nothing.

I will try to contact them and see if I can get a new fan.

You can phone antec for an RMA and they will send you a fan anyway. Someone got some free fans doing that lol. Doesn't cost you anything and you dont have to send your pc off.

Personaly id of replaced the fans anyway as they are too loud. The noctua's are dead quite and move a lot of air.
