Hello.

I am considering upgrading my graphics card to a 8800GTS 640mb
The only thing is I have an Antec TrueBlue 480w PSU.

Will that have adequate power/connectors/etc. to cope with the powerful GFX?

Here is a link to a review and info about it.

As you can see by the age of the review (2003), the PSU isn't exactly new. In fact I would pretty much say that it's dated. Which is why I am concerned.

Right, cheers for that.
So, if I had to get a new PSU, what would you suggest?
I was looking at the Coolermaster IGreen 500W, but it's a bit on the expensive side.

Dump the Antec because they are notorious for not providing the juice for 8800.

Also dump the link as its a direct competitor matey, you'll get banned from these forums if you don't. Read the T&C's of use.

I have an Antec Truepower Trio 550W and been running an 8800GTS no problems here, you want something that has at least 30A on the 12v rail really to be comofortable. Something in the 500W range would be suitable, anything from Corsair, Antec, Enermax and Akasa I would vouch for.

You talking about Antec PSU in general or just the TrueBlue range?

Just the Trueblue range bud, I've had to change about 6 of them out in various peoples PC's over the last few months. Because of the 8800's. Not saying there a bad power supply, I've found that there just not suitable for the said cards. But I'm sure there's some folks out there that have zero issue with em.

Okay, crunch time - I don't really want to pay more than £60 if I can help it.
So what is a good PSU to get that will run a 8800GTS, 4GB RAM, 3x HDDs (2 Molex, 1 Sata), and a 6000+ X2 CPU?

Get an 8800GT 512mb and save yourself £50, plus it's faster and uses less power.

You probably won't even have to upgrade the PSU.
