Anti Virus for Server 2012 R2

What's wrong with Sophos (apart from not being free)? It's what I use. I know most if not all the free options don't run on server 2012.

It's connected to work...it gets its updates from work...so if the infrastructure changes in work it fails to update...

I want a solution I'm in complete control of.:)

Have a look at CLAMAV, I've never used it on Windows so I don't know how good it is? Seems to work OK on my RaspberryPi, if like the Linux version then you will have to write a script to interrogate the Scan Logs to see if any virus were detected

Cheers...thanks for the input...but it doesn't have on access scanning.:(

From Linky...

"Please note that ClamWin Free Antivirus does not include an on-access real-time scanner. You need to manually scan a file in order to detect a virus or spyware."

In 2008 (so probably 2012 as well) you can get Microsoft Security Essentials to run with a little work. Otherwise you'll be looking at paying for a solution pretty much - as you've already found, CLAMAV doesn't do real time scans.

ESET File Server, no complaints here, eset has pretty much been rock steady for years.

Have they baked the installation so it pulls the updates from their work server and you can't enter update credentials yourself?

I can change the updates details but I need the address for the work server.

They have now updated it so Sophos is up to date

If you've got the update credentials, then they should be able to provide you with the standalone installer from the MySophos page they have access to, to source installers and documentation for all the products in their licence portfolio.... pretty much what I use at home.
