*** Any 6970, 6990 info, pics & leaks post in here ***

after speaking to my mate at ** he hasn't heard anything regarding a delay and has said release for the 22nd should still be on.

I asked regarding prices and he said the top end could retail at $499 but wasn't 100% sure as he hasn't been given the figures yet.

As for performance he is trying to do some digging and will get back to me early next week. but from what he has been told (pinch of salt obviously) the 6970 (5870 replacement) will be on par/slightly faster than a 580 and the 6990 will be a lot faster.

take it with a pinch of salt at the moment until he gets bench reports etc as this is what he's been told by the development guys.

if i hear anything else i'll post up asap.

You know what.. if those slides are correct, and roughly show performance, then I think the 6950 will have the 1536 SP's and the 6970 1920 SP's.

I based that on a 6870 has about 30% less SP's than the 5870, and performs between the 5850/5870. If you look at the slides it shows the 6950 just performing slightly better than the 5870, which would probably put it in the 1500+ SP's category. To that end the 6970 to perform significantly higher would need many more SP's than the 6950, say 1800 upwards, so going on rumours... 6950 = 1536 SPs and 6970 = 1920 SP's.

Clock speeds aside of course.
