Any advice to quieten a Samsung F3 1Tb?

I have a Samsung F3, and was wondering if there is any recommendations on making it quiet?

I was sure I had read that there is something to download but can't remember the name, also wondering what free software can check an HDD for errors.

OS is Windows 7 64

There seems to be a lot of noisey Samsung F3 1Tb drives out there, and according to some people here, they are quiet as hell, just as quiet as the F1s.

I bought one not so long a ago and noticed it made a hell of a buzzing, humming noise when i put the drive in my Icy Box External Hard Drive Enclosure.

I have a Samsung F1 1Tb drive as well and that didn`t make as much noise.
 
It could be something to do with AAM. Most folks are reporting it is enabled when they buy the drive but with my own it was disabled. I used Samsung's HDD tool with the intent of turning it off anyway. Even with acoustic managament disabled I can't hear the drive but running it on in performance mode may help those with noisier models.

Works with drive in AHCI mode unlike some others that require IDE Legacy.

Both my drives have AAM disabled for best speed and my older Samsung F1 1Tb drive definitely is the quitist out of the two.

i,ve had Seagates and Western D and must be my ears but both are quiet as each other ,most things are going to make a noise if its mechanical ,its logical really ! the HDD does do a hell of a lot of work ,its the guts of a p.c that stores everything ,so stands to reason its going to make a slight noise when working hard ;)

just fitted this drive today - I was surprised asto howfast this drive is, and yes it is noisy by far and away a lot noisier than any of my other mixture of 4 hard drives

I will be looking into the caddy mentioned (I dont do noise) LOL

Yeah i have one of these installed and its silent , great item !

Hmm...got one of these arriving tomorrow, better not be noisy. My 640GB WD Black is rather quiet, so I'll be unimpressed if the Samsung is any louder.
 
Good luck, as I've found my WD Black is quieter than my F1. If I remember correctly from reviews I've read, Spinpoints are quieter than WD Black drives, which in my opinion means that hard drives are acoustically inconsistent and so reviews unreliable as far as noise is concerned.
