Any chance a Raid0 might get destroyed when just trying out if it'd work on another board.

I have a raid 0 on an Ich7r atm, now, if I'd displug the 2 drives and try to see if the raid0 would transfer to an ich8r chip, is there ANY risk that it might not work afterwards on my ich7r when putting it back in?

Reason is I might go from a P5LD2 to a P5B deluxe board soon, and wana test if the raid 0 would transfer, but can't even accept the tiniest risk of losing the array while testing it...

I never backup and pls don't bring that discussion, the failure rate is dissmissable I've only seen one or 2 out of about 600 hdd's my dad's owned die in the last 5 years, I don't have the money for backup drives anyhow all my hdd's are filled 98-99%...
Never had one of my own hdd's dieing on itself while I have about 1 new hdd per year.

Not sure esp if diff controlers, but THG do a "Migrating Raid" guide.

TY :).

Seems Ich6r to ich9r (and everything in between) controllers all succesfully accept a raid array to/from eachother :). Just need a repair install if the OS would be on the raid, but that isn't the case, I can boot from my standalone hdd, install raid drivers, and have my raid 0 transferred :). Can swap sata ports is no problem either :) on my board after, love the intel to intel chipset compatibility :).

I do back up of data but not actual image of complete install, so its still a lot of reinstlal everything (but best way IMO).

Ive never lost a HDD, I did RMA one as Cache died which just made its slow as hell.
