I've just been looking into getting a new 360 slim to replace my old Elite.
Can anyone tell me if there are any differences between the older Shinny Black 360 Slim and the new Matte Black model other than one is Matte and the other is Shiny. Are there any CPU, GPU or cooling redesigns or is everything just the same?? I have noticed that where they are still in stock you can pick up a Shiny 360 quite a few quid less.

Are you sure the only difference is not just the storage?

Matte Black's come in 4GB while the shiny/glossy is 250GB.

At least thats how it was when I got mine just after it came out.

They're all matte now.

And no, no difference aside from that.

I will point out that coming from an original beige one, the matte slims are so damn quiet now!

yeah they are. When I first got mine I thought it was broke because I switched it on but didn't have my amp on the right channel and I couldn't hear it lol
I craped myself because it was 1am and I really really wanted to play forza 4

Improved cooling & ultra low noise due to a much smaller GPU being used. Wi-fi built into the unit instead of being sold as a USB add-on.

thats the difference between a non slim and a slim, the op is asking if certain revisions of slims are different.

I'd no idea the glossy finish had been changed for matte. Slightly odd decision no?

They are still selling the Kinect in only glossy finish right? Seems odd to have that a different finish when the Slim redesign was partially to do with Kinect.

Well personally I hate glossy stuff, they're dust/scratch magnets.

Most TV's are glossy bezelled though, so Kinect still matches those fine.

I'm obviously hijacking your thread but it saves me starting a new thread.

I bought a new Xbox the other day and I'm wondering should I register it online for the warranty? I'm only asking because, if I decided to sell it within the 1 year standard warranty period, am I able to transfer the warranty over? (if I did register). Is there a time period to register for the warranty?

Cheers

As a matter of fact there IS a new hardware revision. Apparently the new Matte ones and the sepecial edition ones like the GOW3 One have a slightly revised motherboard that has removed a certain chip so that people cant do the reset glitch hack. In normal terms its not an issue really and nothing to do with cooling, performance, noise etc..
