Basically at stock everything i got 7500 in 3dmark05 overclocked my cpu and i got 9000 which isnt too bad. I overclocked and managed 9700 but the card seems to just be far too hot. I cant get 9700 at all even with the cooler on full which i dint have on before  3dmark would even crash,i tried to up the voltage a bit to the core and the memory and my score drops....looking at ati tool it seems the card downclocked. Now the card isnt downclocking because of heat since its been hotter when i didnt have the fan on 100% so it must be because of the tiny increase of voltage??

I went from 1.275v to a max of 1.35v on the core.

Looking at the graphics power draw it draws 30A stock and 35A  @ 650/800 and my psu is only rated for 32A on the 12v rail. Would this make the card downclock like this???

Im gonna get a zalman cooler for it but it just seems its not the heat

I didnt think increasing the voltage did anything, unless you physically soldered the pcb. Upping the voltage would merely increase the voltage going through the pci-e port, then the card would alter voltage back to normal to stop the risk of damage?

Aye, there is no need to alter the voltages on these cards unless you've disabled the 2D/3D switch to overclock it, as this leaves the card stuck at 2D clocks and volts. When you OC an X1000, you are forcing 2D mode and overclocking that.

ok this is getting right on ma ****!!!!!!

I hate CCC i hate ati i hate this card i hate the jet that is the cooler

I also hate the fact i am an ati noob.

So can anybody link me to the non CCC drivers as im sick of waiting an age to adjust AA or AF.....and can someone please break down what i should do with ati since im lost.....increasing clocks and voltage and they go to stock or 2d  i see no option for 2d/3d like i did with nvidia.

Hmm missed benjos post  im a gay

You can find them on the ATI driver page, in the "low speed (dial-up)" section of the table.
  1. Get the "display driver only" and "WDM integrated driver" packages.
  2. Uninstall the ATI drivers and CCC currently on your system and run Drivercleaner Professional.
  3. Install the display and WDM drivers, then install ATI Tray Tools (for controlling AA/AF/etc.)
  4. Download ATI Tool for overclocking and adjusting voltages accordingly, there is a comprehensive guide on these forums that can be found through a search.
Hope this helps cure that headache for you. :)

Cheers mate, owe you a pint or something :p

Closer to 9000 stock graphics is more like it not 7200 :o

Death to CCC as this is much better! No more going to make a cuppa tea while waiting to change AA settings.

Im away to read up on oc'in ati cards now. ;)

I only drink spirits, but I won't say no to a free drink. :)

Glad you got it sorted, now get clocking. You will easily pass 10k if you're getting 9k at stock, I got 8.5k with my crappy 3400+ processor and 10k was easy. :D

Yeh pints too heavy for myself. Since im gay cointreau n lime is suffice :D

Whacked the voltage to 1.4v and clocked it up at 700/850 got 10k hitting a max of 710/865 justnow. I think a lil more voltage would get it stable but i think i'll get my zalman soon enough as i dont like this fan at 100%(was just incase) :D

Now i need to pump up this opteron to get 2.7ghz stable to break my mates 34,000 in mdmark01. Currently wont go any higher than 31,500! :( (he does have a 3ghz opteron though)

Now to bed before ma dads in at 6 :o

Owell least im second top in the ORB for a A64 @ 2.6ghz

Are we saying that Omega drivers are also poor drivers for these cards??
